Can't talk to blacksmith?
I was doing the Long Live the King quest. After the funeral, I went to the gates of Kaer Trolde, met with Yennefer while walking with her, I went to blacksmith. I reloaded, I instead did the quest this time and after finishing it saw that I can't talk to blacksmith. There is no "Talk" option above his head. I reloaded my save, restarted my game it didn't do anything. Now I found a solution, if I attack the guard near and let him beat me, after I wake up, I can talk to bs. But then I lose all my coin(around 15000). Help? :(

Meditate and you should be able to. NPCs wont talk to you when they should be in bed (which they aren't, which is a bug).

Well thats the problem, I did meditate. To different times of the day, nothing changed. And I can talk to anyone else.

I started the game again and saw that I can talk to blacksmith now. Weird. Thanks.

This is a known bug which have not yet been addressed by any patch. Besides not being able to trade weapons with him this also breaks a quest which requires delivering a letter to him.
A year later, this still hasn't been fixed :p

Every time I encounter this bug all I do is meditate for one hour in front on the blacksmith and then I can talk to him just fine. As far as I can tell there are only two other blacksmiths that frequent this bug: the one in Blackbough, and other in Mulbrydale. Of course, I only do that when I absolutely must, as I'm always doped up on decoctions and meditating removes them which is kind of annoying.

It's a weird bug. I get this a lot too. Just try mediating for an hour and they'll usually come around.
I'll try that when I next launch the game, thanks, cuties.
I did manage to speak to him, finish the quest, etc, but now any time I return to him, days later, he'll only tell me he wants to be left to grieve. Does this mean I can never shop from him, or play Gwent?

If the meditating method doesn't work anymore then I don't know what does, which then also means the bug is not quite fixed even now. As far as I can tell he will refuse to speak to you forever only if you lied to him where you found the letter; if you tell him the truth he will grieve for like one day or so and and then speak just fine when you next meet him. Well, at least you managed to complete the quest. And you shouldn't worry about gwent; there are far more merchants to play with in the game than there are cards to win from them.

The first time I had waited over a day, but hey, he's feeling talkative now! Maybe I hadn't gone far enough away when I meditated.

The only one I have found that I can't interact with is one in a small village under a small roof with no walls, and there's some idiot there by him always yammering, while he's hammering. LOL

This the blacksmith for the Hard Times side quest?
It's the only sidequest unresolved in my playthrough because I can't talk to him, even after meditating.
It's driving my OCD demon crazy.
