Can't swim low enough get treasure.
Okay, I really like this game but the swimming SUCKS.

As if the rigid up/down/left/right and no angles swimming wasn't restrictive enough - I've found an underwater cave just off the north east coast of Larvik in eastern Skellige and there is a chest inside it, but you can't swim low enough to interact with it. The dive prompt disappears when you enter the cave and pressing it does nothing, so you can swim like 8 ft above it, but you can't loot it or the herbs in the area.

wtf??

EDIT: This is *NOT* the underwater cave involved in "The Last Wish" quest.

Where is the location.

Read my first post. It wasn't hidden and showed up on the map without me ever visiting there before.
Well that narrows it down a lot. Only 1 out of like a possible 9,878 places instead of 18,723 places. I'll get on it right away. :-P

It's a little underwater cave northeast of Larvik - nothing to do with managing to dive past the SURFACE of the water - it's once you get down 100 feet or so, you can no longer go any deeper. And it's not a controls issue (or a stream issue, ftm) since it's happening to me on PS4. A reboot does NOT fix.

Let's not argue. Go to the easternmost island in Skellige. This has Freya's Garden at the north, Lofoten (and its cemetery) on the west, and Larvik just south of a big cove in the northest of the island. Directly to the northest of that cove is a small island. About 2/3 of the way from the cover to that island is an "Entrance" marker. That's the spot we're talking about.

If you dive down there, you'll find an underwater cave. On the Xbox One (which I'm using), you can dive into the water and go down, down into the cave. As you descend, your Witcher Sense shows a glowing treasure chest on the floor. But as you get close to it, Geralt stops descending, and levels out. He won't go further down. It's as if there's an invisible floor that he can't go below.

Saving and restarting, even rebooting the console, doesn't solve this problem. Again, I can dive down into the cave, but he stops descending just a few feet shy of the treasure. Of course, I can't loot it, because I don't get the loot prompt, because I'm not close enough. I hoped maybe Killer Whale would, in addition to the oxygen boost, give me a depth boost. But it didn't help. I am unable to descend the last few feet to that treasure chest.

If anyone who is experiencing this problem finds a way around it, I'd love to know!

It was partially answered a while ago as some quest... You get to go down that underwater cave during the Yennefer romance quest cause apperently Geralt technically cant swim that far down so a spell is casted on him so he wont drown.

Edit: they deleted the post that answered this question.............

The cave is related to a quest, thats why you cant. you should be able too anyways, yes, but if you play through the quest you will eventually go down there.

Hmm. I've actually finished the game, and am playing in the post-game where you're able to mop up whatever you left behind during the regular playthrough. I remember the quesl with the spell you mention, but I forget where that took place. Was it in this cave? If so, then I've already looted the chest, and the Witcher's Sense glow is misleading (this happens sometimes - a chest I've previously looted will glow until I get right up to it, then it "remembers" that I've looted it and the glow disappears). If I looted this chest during that quest, then I'll be happy to cross this cave off my completion list.

I've seen that happen with the glow that disappears just when you get up to it to open it... Hate that.

If you did it during the quest already, then yeah, there's nothing left to get. Unless you're like me and don't loot everything: I leave behind broken rakes and other useless junk that I don't need. And then I'll see a glowing chest, work my way to it and realize... it's just got the junk in it from when I left it before. grr

I've reached this exact place and point myself. Apparently, the problem is they think you can't make it without a spell so it's disabled after the quest. Well, i have Killer Whale potion and that's plenty sufficient. It really should be patched so that it's accessible for those that want to try instead of having the option taken away due to coding.

I didn't use any potions and I got there just fine. It's been there since launch so apparently they have no desire to fix the issue.

Have any of you tried killer whale potion? I always use it while diving and never had a problem.
It´s supposed to let you stay more time underwater, but maybe is related to depht too?
Thrax May 18, 2016 @ 2:35pm
Had the same issue. Killer whale potion did not help.
I've tried the trick to save just as I was above the treasure and the load- I did went on the sea floor, got next to it, but the glow disappeared... Nothing to pick!
Might be the issue someone mentioned - could be linked to a quest maybe?

It was done on purpose because that cave is part of "the Last Wish" quest.

That's not the cave this thread is talking about.

I made this thread long ago. I did that quest. I completed the game. NO it's not.

This cave is much smaller, and in a different area. It's not as deep. You can get within a few feet of the chest.
