Precious Cargo Quest Infinite Loading Screen
During the Precious Cargo quest, after chasing down the merchant and striking him down I enter a loading screen that never ends (waited for nearly 30 minutes). I haven't done this quest since release, so I'm unsure when the bug was introduced.

On a side note, the quest works as intended if I simply give the merchant the box. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Just experienced this bug as well.

It was surprising that it had to load (and for a while too) to start the chase, but then when it had to load when you caught him as well and it ended up being an infinite load... well, oh boy.

Definitely needs to be fixed.

Same here, I decided to do this mission last night while I was running around white orchard and I got a long arse loading screen right when the cutscene ends with guy running off. When it finally finished, the npc was already half way down the road which gave me a quest failed. I am bit frustrated with this. Definitely needs a patch for this as well as a ton of other quests that are still broken.

damn I just ran into this bug on my second playthrough with 1.07 patch, haven't had any sort of trouble on 1.06 though...

Just in case you're wondering, the bug is still there.

I ran into this consistently as well but eventually managed to fix it. The game had autosaved a checkpoint right before the dialog to confront the merchant, so I loaded that, called Roach closer, and meditated until it was daylight, and then the quest continued to the chase fine after that.

Probably all dumb luck and just a lucky load, but figured I'd post anyway

Can't remember all the details about the chase, but you literally will not catch him - you persue him into an area and I'll leave it at that. However, it took me many, many attempts to complete - I essentially scummed a save just before confronting him and if anything went wrong I reloaded and tried again and again until it worked.

2020 and still not fixed...This is garbage. Just before the chase was about to start it loaded for a good minute and while being stuck in there I almost got killed by wolves apparently, and the quest has failed.
I assume the save games are being deleted, so I can't really try what @PopnFresh suggested...

This needs to be fixed.

Save games don't get deleted unless you delete them. They can however be overwritten, which is likely what you are doing.

Nothing happens in game during loading. Things do however happen from the time loading stops and the black screen disappears.

The wolves were likely near by when the loading started, so between the time loading stopped and the screen going back to normal the wolves attacked. For what it is worth, there is a wolf pack spawn location directly above the camp site. You should always kill whatever wolves are spawned at that location before starting the quest.

Courtest of romanenko262 from reddit. It worked for me

"I figured out what was the problem, you have to kill wolfes that are nearby otherwise they somehow kill you during the loading screen"

This works still! Funny this wasn't fixed even in the NextGen update.
