Fists of fury Novigrad... WTF!?!
So 1st match you fight Georgus George. I do not in anyway need gold (I have over 50K as well as more stufff than I will use for the duration of the game) so I am not taking the dive here. I should also note I am playing it on the Hard difficulty level and am currently the reccomended level of 23. Everywhere I read about this fight I hear how easy it is to do. However it is infurating how difficult it is in reality.

I can parry or dodge and hit him a ton of times. If I hit him clean when he is not blocking and it deals 250 damage. 250 is seemingly but a drop in the bucket though, as his health bar barely moves down at all (less than 1/16 so little I cannot guage how much health he has even). This in itself I could still deal with if not for the fact if I get punched once I loose HALF of my health, and in only 2 punches I loose the fight.

The only way I could potentiialy win this fight as I see it would be to fight a near perfect fight (only taking one hit). As well as in doing so manage an inumerable amount of countering followed up by a heavy attack.

For clarity sake I have taken down a lvl 27 elemental (at level 21) with relative ease, so I cannot understand how this ape can 2 punch me.. unless it is a bug of sorts?

Can anyone shed any light on this for me???

If he's the NPC I'm thinking of, he was the first one to use those quick jabs if you're close to him. That was a seriously irritating moment. I've learned to counter every single punch since him though so just keep practicing.

You do basically need to have a perfect match against most of the later fist fights in the game.

No he is not using quick jabs. Haymakers that take 50% or just over of your health.Often times after countering and stunning me.

A perfect match is means I have to hit him so many times this fight could easily take over an hour. Literaly the 1st fighter in Novigrad, I uterly rolled over th evelen fighters too this change in difficulty is crazy if that is all it is, though I still suspect there may be a big of sorts at play here.

The haymakers are super telegraphed though. You can see them coming with more than enough time to counter and stun him for a few seconds.

I'm not sure how the damage actually adds up but I've found 2 fast attacks will do slightly more damage than a strong attack for fist fights. I'm not sure if gear bonuses are applying to that (I use light armor with cat school ability)

Regardless, good luck. Fist fighting can be infuriating in this game.

I don't think you guys fully understand what I mean when I say I CAN and DO counter, but the damage I can inflict is close to NOTHING. What difficulty level do you have it on? Serioulsy 50 punches is not going to be enough from whar I am seeing! This is only the 4th out of 15 matches. If this quest is not bugged then I dare say no one will ever beat this on the hard difficulty let alone the insane level.

Well, another good tactic that works many times is when they are winding up with their strong attack hit your fast attack button. You almost always can get off a fast attack while he's winding up and then follow it up with a couple more, and you don't even need to counter. Try it.

Is your gear at your level 23? Or at least very close? Your damage in fist fights I think scales off of gear somehow.

*SIGH* Haymakers barely leave a scratch, the light attack hits him for 0 damage.

You're telling me your fast attack does zero damage? You're doing something wrong than because I never do heavy attacks in fist fights ever, and I've won every one so far...

I'm playing on Death March. I don't really remember the NPC you're refering to, but from the level I'm thinking it's the one in Kaer Trolde in Skellige? Asks you to throw the fight so he gets the girl?

That's weird that you aren't doing much damage.. Especially considering you're at least the recommended level. I think I was under the recommended level the first time I did it and still beat him eventually. Might be a bug but I hesitate to throw that term around as people use it as a crutch.

I suspect a bug as I have said. I have tried the same fight more times than I care to admit. The haymaker shows a damage of 250 but barely makes a scratch on his total health at all.

No one in Novigrad lol. There's a few where they beg you to throw the fight, as if... haha

What was funny was I told the Skellige guy sorry can't do it, and he whooped my ass lol. I beat him second round, but he was so dang fast compared to the previous fights I'd done that he took me off guard.

Oh I know, right? There was one in Velen, the fisher I think, who asked. I said no and threw him some coins after because it was at least an option. Win for everybody
