Trouble triggering Gwent: Old Pals

I can't seem to trigger Old Pals no matter what I do. I have finished the Velen Players and the Innkeeps. I have tried to talk to Zoltan several times with no Gwent dialog offerings. Same with Lambert. I tried to talk to him before, during, and just after Following the Thread and no Gwent game dialog options. What am I missing here?? Is there some sort of trigger I haven't found yet?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Zoltan won't have the option until most of the Novigrad storylines involving him have been completed, IIRC. He's preoccupied until then.

Someone else needs to tell you about Lambert. In my case, Roche did, and there are a few other major figures in Novigrad who know one another and can give referrals.

There's a quest comes up for him just before the (I believe) Cabaret plotline where he asks you to find him some Gwent cards, after you do that the option to play him came up for me

Thanks very much! When I went back to see Zoltan after the Dangerous Game quest he got me started, and I went to Roche and then Thaler.

HOWEVER, I now can't get to Lambert because I missed my chance to play him when I interacted with him during Following the Thread. Now my quest marker points toward Kaer Morhan but when I select it, I get the world map but there are no signposts to fast travel to!!!

Is there any way to go back there at all?? I assume I end up there eventually cause everyone seems to be going back there to wait for me, but how to access it in the meantime?

No you have to wait till you get to Kaer Morhen.
