Stuck at level 1...?
Been doing quests in the start of the game. Mostly, random things that come up. I was 865/1000 exp (Level 1) before starting some quests, but I'm still at 865/1000 exp after completing them.

Is this normal?

Currently on Death March. I've completed the following quests:
Kaer Morhen
Twisted Firestarter
Precious Cargo
Missing in Action
Scavenger Hunt: Viper School Gear

I've unlocked two Places of Power and recieved two skillpoints as appropriate.

Could be an XP glitch that prevents you from getting exp, try to make another quest and see if it rewards you, if not then restart or wait for patch.

There is a bug right now, that certain quests won't give you XP. There is a patch to fix it any day now.

Beat me to it lol.

There's a bug stopping a lot of quests from handing out XP at the moment. It will sadly be fixed in the next patch so you can have a boring game where you're soon 10 levels above every enemy during every quest you do. ;o

It might be a that bug however for me that seems normal, you will get alot more exp doing main story quests over side quests where they possibly only give you 75 exp.

yea, I guess the last one I listed (Scavenger hunt) just doesn't award XP. Which is aweful since you have to fight a level 7 wraith that can one-shot you xD Ah well.

Just did the Monster at the Well quest and got 100 XP. Jeezus the XP gain in this game is slow and painful.

Sounds like the exp glitch... if i were you i would wait for the patch 1.05 that brings a fix, should be out today or one of upcoming days.

There's a bug, and there's a design decision.

The design decision is that if you're quite overleveled for a quest, you get no XP for it. Only bother if you think you'll enjoy it or want any non-XP awards you might get. This is obviously not what is affecting the OP, since at level 1 he can't be over leveled. It's staying, and it limits the odds of overleveling to the point of making the game too easy.

The bug is that some quests aren't properly giving XP. That's acknowledged, and will be fixed, but last I heard they weren't sure they could make the fix retroactive -- they were looking into it but weren't promising.

So should I stop playing until the patch is out if I want to play on Death March, or should I keep going? It's pretty challenging but I don't know if I'm supposed to have gained levels yet or not in the normal course of the game.

I really did think a level 6 quest would've pushed me over the hump (The searching one I mentioned) but I seem just short of level and struggling to find my way in the game.

It takes a lot of XP to level up. It just takes more time than most games. Try accomplishing may little quests and find a bunch of ? marks. If you don't level up, you have the bug.

Ya maybe you should wait. If you're getting no XP at all, sooner or later you are going to hit some enemies that are just going to destroy you over and over and over because you're not leveling right.

Nobody knows when this patch will come, supposedly was supposed to be Monday, then people said Tuesday, and of course now it's releasing today. So who knows.

It's Friday, even though people told me to shut up.
