Witcher Gear sets, mis matching?
I am wondering if it matters if you have to use the Whole set of one specific set, or if you can mix and match different pieces of different sets without any kind of loss of an extra buff/boost?

Like if I use the Armor Jacket from Bear School and use the Rest of Griffon school.

Also wonder if anybody knows a method to change armor skins, like change the Griffon Armor Jacket skin to the Redanian Medium armor skin.

Thanks.

There is no loss whatsoever unless you actually spend an ability point on a the School abilities.
Cat skill is 5% more attack power for each piece of light armor you are wearing
Griffin skill is 5% more sign intesity for each piece of medium armor you are wearing
Bear skill is 5% more adrenaline point gain (i think???) per piece of heavy armor you are wearing

I might of got that wrong but i am fairly sure those skills are correct. If not feel free to correct me. As long as you dont have any of those abilities equipped there is no loss, though hypothetically it would make sense to have one of them just for the boost, especially on higher difficulties.

Alright cool, just thought maybe there was some passive bonus I was missing and by mixing parts from sets I would miss out on it. Griffon set works better for me for my first play through build style, but Bear armor jacket looks better in my opinion.

Cat school passive gives 5% fast attack damage and 25% critical hit damage per piece.
Griffin school passive gives 5% sign intensity and stamina regen per piece.
Bear school passive gives 5% strong attack damage and vitality per piece.

Cat school passive is worth the most especially with Precise Blows passive, Assassin gloves and a neat crit buffing sword. Griffin passive is also good though you can get away with a light armor sign build. Light armor gives +30% stamina regen instead of medium passive's +20% at the cost of a skillpoint. Meaning you can put a skillpoint in a random sign skill instead and get +10 intensity back from the mutagen effectively trading 10 sign intensity for 10% stamina regen. Also, by dumping spare points near endgame into that random skill you selected you not only get an extra boost to that sign you also get 0.5 Stamina regen per point stuck in there.
Just hard to find good Sign boosting light armor compared to the Griffin crafted set but it should be OK. Not a bad thing to wear Cat even in a sign build you gotta use your sword sometime.

Ursine/heavy armor with bear school spec boosts your vitality too which is very useful and I went all heavy and during the last chapter you cut enemies with one blow into halves. Even freakin shieldbearers. Ill go cat school on my next playthrough. But gotta say the look of the ursine armor is hard to beat.

Found a mod on Nexus that swaps the stats for Griffon & Ursine armor sets, you can have the look of Ursine with the stats of Griffon(medium armor). Maybe you can request the modder to do that with the Lynx set.
Its best to just use 1 armor type, the armor school talents are too good

I was thinking about doing this. You could equip the cat and the griffon bonus and mix and match the armor for a more balanced player. The best thing to do I figure though is using Griffon swords and for armor switching back and forth armor from griffon --> cat ---> enhanced griffon ---> enhanced cat ----> superior griffon...etc. USE fast attack bonus on griffon armor. When I have Cat, fast attack bonus - keep one piece of griffon armor and use both bonuses if I have 9 open slots.
