How to carry all armor sets?
My Geralt is near level 20, with weight limit 170, about 10k orens, wearing the enhanced griffin set, and has lots of diagrams for various versions of the cat and ursine and (superior) griffin sets. I haven't yet chosen an armor specialization general talent.

I would like to craft and try out all of them. However, after I sell off all the loot I pick up after an excursion, I'm usually sitting at around 90 weight units; during some quests, I near my weight limit until I sell off loot.

So, if I craft all the armors, I suspect I will be carrying around 50 more weight all the time, which doesn't seem practical. The other option, of course, is to dump my griffin armor. However, if I craft, say, the ursine armor and then change my mind and want to switch back to griffin, I'm screwed because I need the enhanced griffin to craft the superior griffin.

I am wondering how the rest of you handled this conundrum.

There does not seem to be a stash, as there was in Witcher 2 or, say, Diablo. I've noticed that objects dropped on the ground seem to stick around for a long time, but I don't know if they will remain forever, so I'm hesitant to just leave crucial armor in the middle of Hierarch Square.

Did you guys just pick one armor and stick with that? To me this is problematic because the best armor at levels 1-27 or so seems to cycle between the witcher armor sets; in other words: (for example) at level 14 it might be cat, then at 17 ursine, then at 20 griffin, then at 23 cat, etc.

Or is there a way to raise your weight limit beyond 170?

Any other options?

Download a weight mod from Nexusmods. Raised my enjoyment of the game tenfold not having to constantly manage weight while adventuring.

Just carry the mats to make each tier.

I just crafted the lvl23 griffin and stick with that untill around lvl26-7 then craft probably the ursine or cat or bear for that lvl if i have all diagrams which im now collecting doing quests for them.

I dont carry 4 sets with me as you said its extra weight you carry and miss some space.

I think it stays there for long time what you drop it's after all solo rpg not a multi player.

That's a good idea to just download a mod. It's a pain to have to go sell things after every couple quests. Thanks.

It's time sink they don't want, so they install mods with no carrylimit but unlimited so they don't have to travel to merchants. Gamers these days want it all easy and fast thats also why these games lately have fast travel every where.

Morrowind for me wa last solo open world RPG old school( for PC).

I made and carried all the witcher gear, swords and armor both, because I wanted to try them all out and switch between them. You can do it but you have to have the zerikkanian saddle bags and be under the effect of the fiend decoction all the time. I also carried around a couple situational gear pieces like poison resist boots and was sitting at around 160 stone. You get a capacity of 180 with the saddlebags and the fiend decoction.

I'm not hoarding anything, to my knowledge. But it's difficult to tell, because the inventory UI doesn't easily let you breakdown your inventory, and the game doesn't tell you what crafting items will be needed for what down the line. So I carry around about 20 of each herb, books I can't sell because the merchant who buys books for the most doesn't have money right now, a selection of things for dismantling at some point, an extra weapon and armor piece or two which I'm undecided about using, and the loot I get during a quest.

"Why would you ever need to have all the armors?" I don't *need* them, but I would like to see them and see what it is like to play some portion of the game with them. I might replay the game, but I don't want to have to run through the whole game again to see and try out superior ursine armor, for example. Do you find this completely unreasonable?

My first playthrough character has all of the witcher armor sets and swords, a copy of every book I could find, all of the quest notes and contracts, potions, oils, decoctions, and buttloads of crafting and alchemy mats and it only weighs in at around 120 units.

Drop all the other crap you're carrying and stop picking up useless items, there is no advantage to hoarding.

Are you sure about the 170? I only have 160, because the Zerrikanian Saddlebags give an additional 100 to your base 60. Or is there an even better saddlebag or a way to upgrade the Zerrikanian ones?
blackheart2 Jun 2, 2015 @ 2:00pm
Yeah, I have the Zerrikanian saddlebags with +100 weight allowance, so I guess I meant 160.

To be fair, if you simply sell all of your spare equipment every time you pass a merchant, you'll almost never get bothered by the weight limit.

Well...okay, it helps if you stop picking up worthless weapons, too!

I agree with all this. I am a total packrat, hoarding, "Wanna-Drive-Around-A-Dumptruck" kind of guy.

Yet I use no mods, don't plan to, and got my weight down to under 25 units before popping the Griffin in the White Orchard. But if someone wants to carry 3 sets of armor they really cant loot much, even at 170.

Selling off to merchants will work, but can be a pain in the ass, since weapon/armor crafters don't buy junk, and junk buyers usually don't buy weps/armor (but I am a bit new to the game)

I just offered the guy an option I ran across :/

Just dismantle the armor to get some components back and carry those around. You have plenty of money and money is easy to come by anyway. Choose and dedicate yourself to a setup and an armor set and if it turns out to be gimpy or just not fun buy a respec potion for 1000 crowns and redo your skills and gear.

There's hardly anything worth buying endgame except greater runes & glyphs ( ~1500 crowns) and you only need a few of those since you can recycle them by dismantling the gear it's slotted in when you upgrade. Can possibly even find them instead of buying them. Make sure you buy the big saddlebags from the merchant near the king of beggars in novigrad early on and you're set.

The armor and resistances the sets give are all neglible anyway just make do with slightly less stats for a while. It's the Adrenaline boost/Sign intensity/Attack(Crit) you want from your different armor sets to compliment your setup.
