Trying to swim in this game gives me cancer
The controls and responsiveness is unbearable. I think i'm scheduled for chemo tomorrow.

Congrats! I hope your cancer spreads like Nutella.

It's part of the 'roleplaying' aspect of the game. It lets you experience fighting for your life in the same way Geralt fights for his with every contract he takes. Or with every bath he takes, as the case may be.

It is a negative for the game.

... the drowners name really shines when you're mashing the keys/buttons to sink/surface properly among 3-5 of them.

Never had too much of an issue with swimming. Except for trying to pull out my crossbow. Which is a bugger on land too. Same with bombs I guess. That slot just sucks.

You guys are dirty casuals. Did you think Geralt just started out being able to casually bathe in buckets of water without drowning? Hell no, he had to learn the controls just like everyone else.

Get good.

One button makes you swim faster, one button aims your direction up, and one button aims your direction down.

It's not too bad, although i guess it makes more sense on a controller than with a mouse/keyboard.

Other than initially going under water the first time what is bad about the controls? That you can't everything on a dime?

You're in water with swords and fricking armor. You don't grow gills and fins.

I see people complaining that the horse doesn't instantly turn on a dime or respond either. It's a horse......

Good grief.

Also if you let go of everything else while 'diving' or 'surfacing', you'll do that significantly faster.

Sometimes its really difficult to pick in what direction you'd swim, C makes you go down, SPACE makes you go up and W forward to where you are looking, but if you'd want to go forward and up you cant do it with W+SPACE lol, it will make geralt spin on one place.

Control is pretty bad under water, especially in cramped spaces. I can't turn around most of the time if i'm against a wall. In open water it's fine, but in caves it's a nightmare.

the swimming is atrocious. its all the problems with the movement made much worse... (geralt takes 2 steps after you tell him to stop moving. geralt walks 2 steps before sprinting, geralt can't turn around if you aim behind him and press forward, geralt often thinks he is out of combat when he gets in small tight places and will just stand there and get chopped to death because your spacebar roll button is doing nothing since he "isn't in combat" etc)

I'm sorry, but I got distracted by that attractive female in your avatar lol.

It takes a lot of getting used to. I finally made it to Skellige before I got the hang of it.

The main trick iss to try and keep a depth. Dive down with the right button and you let go of the dive button. Hit the swim faster button and you should keep going in the desired direction.

... It may be harder/ easier with a keyboard and mouse, as I opted for a PS4 controller to play the game.

if mob is in water and you hit it with cross bow it dies in one hit if your in the water too

Using the Xbox Contoller for this game, and swimming control is by far the worst of all the control related issues. I love this game, however in some aspects it does leave a lot to be desired. This one it up there at the top of the list for me.
