The King is Dead - No Black and White clothing
Yennifer asks you to wear black and white clothing, and says she packed some clothes for you. I picked them all up and no combination of them are in fact black and white.

????

i think there's a skellige tunic combo that is the closest to black and white (has some brown in the arms, yellow symbols on the tunic, cant rmb). After which if Yen sees you wearing will say 'nice' or something. :yennefer: we all know what you wanna do with her...

That's what I already had, didn't count. That's what I wore to the party with Triss. I had to go back to Novigrad and buy cloths from the elf dude there.

Think more so of 'majority of it is black' and you'll be in good shape.

This quest updates in an annoying way (that had me running back and forth).

-First you get the quest to meet Yen, and optional to wear the clothes
-Go to her room, and pick up ALL the clothes from the chest. This will update the optional quest
-Strip off your gloves, swords, and cross bow. You should be wearing Boots, Pants, and Tunic of the same variety (i wore the same-named-black ones).

Yen will either say "You decided to wear your own...." which means your wearing something wrong, or she will say "You look nice" and you done good kid.

As I said, those did NOT work, and they are the wrong colors. None of the Skellige chest clothing counted, I tried both. I had to go back to Novigrad and get a black Courtesan's Doublet and then it worked fine.

Typical woman, doesn't know what she really wants. I went with a regular shirt and all my weapons and we still ploughed. Screw what she wants.

Who is this Yennifer you guys keep talking about?

She doesn't ask YOU to wear black and white, she says SHE will wear black and white and asks you to put on some of the clothes she left for you, none of which are black and white...

I've done this quest twice, and had two different responses. I suspect the game locks in whichever tunic you put on first.
My first run I put on only the "black" tunic and got the "you look good" response. My second run I tried on the blue tunic, then switched to the black one and got the "you dressed yourself" response. Slightly buggy in my opinion.

This one is strange, if you wear Black & White Stuff (and not what sin the Box) the Option for the Quest will fail (Red Mark, less XP) if you wear the Stuff in the Box then the Option for the Quest will succeed (Green Mark, more XP)... But Yenneffer say "you dressed yourself" Response anyway, but what matters is the Quest Option turning green and not what she says, it only turns green if you pick the Stuff out of the Box and wear it directly while opened the Box, so for the Quest Option you must wear the Skellig Tunica...

I tried the same and it failed... Reloaded, taken Clothing of Box and succeeded... Still got the same Answer from her, but what matters for me is the green Mark of the Quest not what she says...

Yeah, definitely seems to be a little strange on what the quest seems acceptable to satisfy that goal.

I think I got this. Neither of the closes present in Yennefer's chest will do. The best solution is if you still have the same closes you wore in Vyzima when meeting the Emperor. But I really doubt someone still carries them around at that point. The solution I've used was to go back to Novigrad via fast travel and by myself some Nilfgaardian clothes from the same elven shopkeeper I bought the masks for a ball. In this occasion Yen tells something like "You look dashing!" I believe it's the best possible answer from her. Not sure, but I've heard it has some impact on romance with her. But I'm aiming for a threesome so I won't have any luck here anyway. :happymeat:

Take the clothes from the chest equip them (check) take them off and put on a Nilfgaurd set. Quest complete with a compliment from Yen.

I just completed the quest now.. I used the clothes from the chest. I equipped the black/yellow tunic, and the plain black pants.. got the "you dressed yourself" response. Reloaded, and instead used the other pants from the chest (with the leg-wrapping thingees), and got the 'you look lovely' response.

So, yeah it can be done with clothes from the chest, maybe those getting wrong response are using the wrong pants?

also, no idea if it has any effect or not, but I unequipped swords/crossbow, and gloves too.
