It is not as pointless as you make it sound, specially in earlier stages. If you combine them Geralt recovers vitality faster.

Use swallow and then eat that raw meat (or any other edible food) and also drink water (or any other beverage, except Kaedwenian Stout, that thing doesn't heal it seems) and you will recover vitality really fast.

Swallow works for at least 20s(depends of your upgrades), so, if you are really low on health: with one potion and three raw meats (eat one at each 4 seconds) and at two or one beverages(drink the first at the same time you eat the first meat, the second if necessary once the first worns off) will fill your bar in 20s.

Which is useful regardless if you are starting or are in the middle or have ended a dangerous mission and you want to recover it as fast as possible.

TY, so there is no cooking of the meats then? (Shudders at the thought of eating raw meat, thats just...nasty)

Not that I've found... cooked food is available but there isn't a significant benefit. You'll find raw food that have either a 10s or 5s duration, and you'll find cooked food with a 10s or 5s duration.

The difference is that in your travels, you're going to accumulate quite a bit of raw meat (at one point I had almost 120 pieces) whereas the cooked foods will be limited quantities off of bandits or out of chests etc.. or you'll have to buy it from shops.

Witcher metabolism.

Besides, raw meat is actually more nutritious- the majority of vitamins are heat-sensitive. It's just that we lowly non-Witchers can't digest it properly. :)

OP, I guess you're one of those people who likes their steak well done? ;)

Eat it, I know it makes no sense eating raw meat, but this is the withcer where a mutant slays monsters for peasants. Take it for face value I guess. Also this is my favorite type of food. It's only 5 seconds but gives good vitality regeneration. Plus you can kill local wild life and get free meats (deer and rabbits). The price of food form merchants is too damn high.

He's a Witcher. He drinks lethal poison regularly.

It won't even give him the ruins.

Though there is a line in the game which someone comments that Geralt hates raw meat more than being teleported. Where's my cooking DLC?

We digest raw meat just fine. Its usually just full of deadly bacteria as a result of the process of making it on the scale that they do today (especially processed meats like chop meat)

You can for all intents and purposes eat raw meat but you risk getting parasites or some gnarley intestinal viruses. So its a matter or health and not really ability to digest.
