Troll mutagen for making Troll decoction

Has anyone found this yet? I've got close to 100 hours clocked for this game I've yet to find one. Please help. I'm still only on Act 1 (Skellige) for the main plot, fyi.

Seriously though, yeah, haven't found it. So far got the gear set diagrams but no alchemy recipes.

get one from the rabid rock troll on An Skellige. It spawns next to the fast travel point Trail to Yngvar's Fang which is Northeast of Urialla Harbor. It respawns after a time too so get farming.

You can find it by doing main quests in Kaer Morhen or Missing Miners DLC, but there is much more difficult

Got one! Finally! Thanks for the tip, Creamy, that rock troll was the way to go after all. After killing the 5th one it finally dropped the mutagen! :)

i do not see a rock troll of any kind in the Trail marker to Ygvar's fang, nor anywhere on the island. I keep finding, bears, wolvs, harpies and bandits. Any other suggestions for finding the troll mutagen?Is the only one I dont have.
The three in the Thaler missions didnt drop the mutagen, nor any of the random trolls I have killed in game so far.
I didnt want to kill the singing painting troll. If that is the only place to get the mutagen I would like a meta gaming answer on that.

There are moments in the game when it will not appear at all. I was able to get it to appear by activating a quest in that area. There should be a witcher gear treasure hunt in that area iirc, so try to activate that quest and see if the troll appears. If it does, then I recommend saving before fighting it so if you don't get the mutagen you can reload and start over.

I got mine from a rabid troll in a cave in velen. The entrance was swarming with Nekkers that had deer skull helmets on.
I think it was near the place Ciri finds Gretka then fights a werewolf.

LOL i see that there is no actual achievment for getting every darn potion, bomb and decoction maxed. It is a personal OCD thing for myself.

I think I can relate to the OCD thing in a way. I love finding all the recipes and ingredients for everything but I rarely allow myself to use them. I get my kicks out of having all that organized and ready to go and then fighting the most outrageous beast on the list with my bare ass in the wind xD
