Witcher 3 vs Skyrim
I see a lot of people comparing the two, but Skyrim has more freedom.

You aren't ever egged on towards the main quest line in Skyrim, but in this game you need to carry the story forward to unlock other missions and stuff.

I prefer Witcher because it's a prettier world with better dialog, voice actors and ambience.

Well the obvious difference is that skyrim has like 500k mods and you can do anything. So imo skyrim is better simply because of the vast amount of gameplay, it is nearly infinite if you make your own mod packs. I jsut hope Witcher gets some good mods, W2 had lackluster mod avalability and support imo.

While this is true that you can do a lot more, this doesn't appeal to everyone.

I mean yeah you can do a lot such as buy a house have a wife etc etc.

Buts to me it's just so shallow.

It's like, yeah I could get a in-game wife or build a fort with a mod or whatever but to me it's meaningless.

The game still doesn't have any good characters or a good story (IMO and most agree) and very stiff mostly stat based combat and just isn't as exciting.

I like fallout a lot more than elder scrolls anyway. Cause of V.A.T.S, gore and the fact that the gunplay works better with the stiff engine better than swordplay.

Some people love it so much that they can play with mods all the live long day and be happy doing that but I just want a long game with an interesting story, good writing, good characters, good voice acting and most importantly good combat.

There's also more variety to the monsters.

I know that there are mods that add more creatures to skyrim but I've tried them and don't care for them. That could be mostly because I don't like the combat though.

I also like the lore of the witcher world way more than elder scrolls. Feels more real.

Skyrim is still more dynamic and complex to a point.
This discussion would make much more sense
when comparing TW3 with a next gen Elder Scrolls. as such it is.

My 2 cents are in line with several other people namely: Yes Skyrim is basically the GTA of RPG's. And I bet someone will even mod the game to put Trevor and what not into the game. But that's also the main point why TW3 is better. The base game. Skyrim is 4 years old and has about 1 mio mods and people who basically play my little pony or barbie's dream house with the game racking up a thousand hours or so simply because they can and because they can they think it's awesome and because after 4 years of modding and some modders spending years of their life to improve the look of one damn plant they also think now it looks better.

Skyrim had an aweful support from the official site and was it not for it's sheer size at the time, and the fact that there were no comparable games in size on the market, it would have gone done as a fluke. Since it didn't have any competition at the time and since it is heavily modable and has been heavily modded so that we are basically at a point where the game can be any kind of game experience for anyone depending on their preferences because there is probably at mod out there even for guys who want to see their character take a ♥♥♥♥ life on screen it has become this huge game and everyone gets their knickers in a twist when someone says that some other game might have finally surpassed it.

The thing is that TW3 has surpassed it, the vanilla version that is, which is the only one that can actually be considered here since TW3 does not have any time for modding under its belt. It's bigger. It looks better. It has better quests. It has a better story. You can influence the game world more meaningful. It has a dedicated developer who even delayed it to iron out as many bugs as possible and who has a support team working on it which puts ♥♥♥♥♥ like Bioware, EA and 2k to shame to get the game to a state in which it will run perfect across every system. Furthermore it comes along with 16 free DLC's that will be released bit by bit for which you would have to pay 10 Dollars each were it a Bioware game. It will also get a 20 hour and 10 hour long DLC bringing the game to probably 130 hours of game time for just the main quest, secondary quests and witcher contracts, which easily beats out Skyrim's original game time. Is it any wonder? Also no, simply because CDPR took 4 years to develop the game, the game they are up against is 4 years old, which should actually tell you plenty about the state of the RPG genre if a 4 year old game is still considered to be the hallmark of gaming, and they are a one franchise only publisher focussing all their energy on the game that will make or break them plus the Witcher actually has a huge following outside of the game itself.

So get over it. TW3 is better because it improves what has come before it significantly and to the enjoyment of the gamer. It doesn't take anything away from Skyrim but it's simply time for Skyrim to pack it in and call it a day after 4 years on the top and become what it already is: a classic. If TW3 can actually stand that test of time and in 2-3-4 years we will be saying: I hope there will be a Witcher 4 or, damn the Witcher 3 has really shaken up the RPG market for the good, then that is all you could have asked of this game. As it is, I spend 100 hours on it, can't wait for more DLC's and will replay the game at least another 3 times.

so your defense against skyrim being better is that... more people play it, its more popular, and they play it for way more hours?

good defense , if you were arguing against witcher 3- because once youre done with witcher 3's main story theres jack all left to do

No my argument is that TW3 is bigger, looks better, has more meaningful quests, a better story and let's you influence a meaningful world more believeable and has a much better support policy. That is: better than Vanilla Skyrim. My argument is that Skyrim has had 4 years to garner mods that make it longer lived, garner support and new players and that at the time of its release and up to the day TW3 came along it had no meaningul competition. My argument is, given that TW3 is better than Vanilla Skyrim ever was it has surpassed Skyrim and will now have to show if it has as much longevity through mods and a dedicated fan base and if it will have the same positive influences on the genre as Skyrim had. My argument against actually comparing TW3 against Skyrim + 500000000000000000000000000000 mods is that TW3 can not have the same support of moding right now, did not have years to garner a greater following, has not had as many mods which would allow it to be tailored specifically to every gamers liking. Skyrim is as popular because the mods allow any gamer to design the game they want, not the game Bethesda intended, hence it obviously has an advantage in that regard which you can not take into account at the moment because it has 4 years of moding and community support under it's belt.

Entering cities and houses in Skyrim requires a loadscreen.

The world in Witcher is truly open, the only loadscreens are between the world areas which means you could end the game with only 4 loadscreens....

Skyrim is inferior, QED.
TheOutSiderNL 2015 年 6 月 1 日 上午 10:16
Right now 47000 people are playing Skyrim pretty impressive for a 4 year old game.. Right now (only) 73000 people are playing The witcher... Not so impressive for a brand new game... Like i said, The Witcher is good, but not better..Yeah the story is better, but all the time your doing the same.. Use witcher sense to look for clues then find the monster and kill it, or find someone to save

Loading screens do not have anything to do with the definition of open world. Also I am trying with my post to get a bit of sense into this discussion and you are already starting with the ♥♥♥♥ size comparison again.

Right now half of America is at work... most Chinese and Japanese gamers are in bed and the Australians too. You got to get over your inferiority complex man. I bet right now there are also at least 10.000 people still playing Baldurs Gate. The Witcher 3 being better does not negate the great number of mods that enhance the game value of Skyrim or it's dedicated following. You also can't not compare that because Skyrim had 4 years to garner that following and to have the mods out that actually make people continue to play the game. Do you really think any of those 47.000 play the game without mods? Well 73.000 Witcher 3 players do.
