Actually quen also has "hp", but it always absorvs the last blow for full, or maybe there is threshold since sometimes I feel like I'm losing quen AND hp, but maybe I was hit twice the same time, dunno.

Well, anyway, my quen is highly intensified, lol, sometimes it doesnt explode even after 3 or 4 hits.

It actually blocks any attacks up to 6% of your vitality. So if an enemy hits you for less than 6% of your vitality value, your quen will stay up.

Now, in lower levels, Quen usually only lasts one hit because most enemies will do that much damage with a single hit. In higher levels, especially if you wear heavy armor with the bear school perk to increase your vitality, your quen becomes much more durable and allows you to essentially tank the occasional fight as long as you use it well.

I'm pretty sure 6% is the base number, however, there may be ways to increase this. I'm not sure if sign intensity affects this.

I just found out quen intensity only makes it last longer, that sucks.

I have several boosts to Quen and mine stays up for 3 hits when actively blocking and maybe 2 when you just insta-cast it. So, yes, I do believe intensity increases the amount of damage it can take before collapsing. This is on Blood and Bones difficulty too.

Maybe you are not pay too much detailed to it. But the 1st Quen is a Secondary HP. If you have full Quen skill and try to fight low level enemy, the Quen will last very long because the enemy had low damage attack and need to destroy the Quen first. But, because you basically had full Quen skill in the later stage of the game which you fight high damage monsters, the Quen feel like useless because the enemy like 1 hit and Quen destroyed.

Well, I cannot argue if people hate Quen first type for it, because what matters is Quen 2nd type, which block incoming attack as well as absorb partial damage attack to our HP. No need to drink HP potion again, just draw the Quen 2nd Shield and let the enemy hit you.
