Can you randomly encounter strong monsters?
Like fiends, ekimarra's, chorts, forktails, werewolves, etc. I've only killed one Chort and that was the contract one. It would be a shame if you couldn't randomly encounter these monsters in the wild because it would make the game boring once you do everything. :(

I do however think that it would be amazing if every so option a new super strong monster would spawn somewhere in the world and you could get a contract to hunt it down after you defeat the quest, just so there's a reason to keep playing post-story line.

This smells like an awesome mod in the making
This "could" be good, however once you get the enimies patterns down 1v1 combat is a joke. I just recently died fighting a leshen that spawned a bunch of wolves. That fight was tough. I also did the two wyvern fight. Those are solid. I think more situations like that would be good for future mods and dlcs.

Oh, and I sometimes still die fighting a handful of drowners ...

Pretty much found every monster at random in the wild except for a chort and vampire. Earlier I was on skellige fighting wolves (at night) when suddenly big daddy werewolf came to back up his boys, scary but awesome random encounter.

Lol yes. There have been more than one monster that I've run into, and I save before I agro them, and give it like 10 or 15 goes. Usually get it down to half health and then get one shot lol. They are only level 22 monsters.

Quen + Heavy attack one hit then dodge, rinse repeat, will take a while, your sword will be damn near broke by the end of the fight lol. but I beat higher leveled fiends,a cyclops, forktail and earth elementals in Velen early game, the Chort is a contract and can be beat the same way.

The Quen allows you to take a heavy hit without damage, make sure to charge it often. with the fiends and chort try to dodge until you are on the side of them almost behind them and attack but don't get greedy. Spotted a random Ekimarra in sewers, might have been Oxenfort maybe Novigrad though, but haven't seen too many.

Well I was level 13 at the time, with level 8 gear, but ya they were tough. I can kill them fine now.

That Leshen fight was difficult for me as well. I eventually learned that the wolves can be damaged by the roots he throws at you, so I just kited them into that attack and then burned him down

I think that in order for this to be implemented correctly, the fight's would have to be very Dark Souls or Bloodborne -y. The enemies would have to be able to essentially one or two shot you in order for it to be an adequate challenge, and would probably need more varied attacks than they do right now.

It would be kinda cool though.

I thought the Leshen was tough as well, then I found out if you stay on top of him and just fast attack he cannot recover. Must be a glitch or something.

It's a glitch, he can teleport out and counter attack by turning into black mist. If this didn't happen it's a glitch.

I once glitched out the Nekker Warrior boss fight and could attack it and all the Nekker it summoned every 1/4 hp while they were underground.

I have a silver sword that sets enemies on fire, so I figured that's why he wasn't recovering ...

He did this a couple times, but enough to matter. His HP is quite low when compared to Dracnoids.

That's why I prefer non-scaled enemies to those that scale to your levels. You would not encounter monsters like these if they are all your level.

I 100% agree, and I've started doing quests that are red skulls. Granted, I'm put all the main quests on hold because of it, and now I'll out level all that content, but I'm OK with that. Going to do a main quest line only run after I beat this one.

I have encountered a level 20 Alghoul this weekend and I tried to fight it with my gerald level 5. But when I saw it was regenerating 110 every second, I just moved on lol

It's just so hard for me to run away to fight another day lol. I have a stubborn instinct to defeat everything I see. I mean I can still defeat skull monsters if its' 1v1, but more than that and it's a 30 min battle +. One mistake and you're dead. Not worth it lol

Edit: I learned that the hard way when trying to fight lvl 16 bandit camps when I was level 5 lol. I killed most of them, but still died by one freaking slash at the 30 min mark.

By any chance could you tell if it was a Ulfhedinn? I've only fought one and it was during the "The Tower Outta Nowhere" quest. If your wondering what it is, its a variant of the Werewolf and the bestiary says its commonly located on Skellige. Do you remember the spot you fought it at? I want to check if it will show up for me to confirm whether or not this was a random spawn or if it is just a set encounter.

Two mistakes if you use Quen :-). And yeah, I think my longest fight was 25 minutes. Minimal risk though, since it was just a stone golem thing. Slower than slow and didn't hit me once.
