Blade of the Bits [Spoiler -Hattori's sword-}
Is this a joke? The quest suggest you be level 24 [managed to finish the entire questline at level 18] to get this oh so extrodinary sword crafted by a master swordsmith only for it to have only one rune slot and 143-175 damage. IT has a cool bonus in a +50% critical damage bonus but that is still pretty much garbage in comparison to the sword i currently have.

This sword would of been useful a few levels back [when I was too low to even think about attempting the quest] but for this level [19 after quest line completion] It's total garbage, a long ♥♥♥, drawn out quest line for such a poor reward.

Also this is more of a nitpick on my part but when he gives it to you he says "A blade to outshine all others"....the entire thing is black...

Nah, the real reward is that you have unlocked a master weaponsmith

I found the blade to be slightly useful for a bit of time. Overall I had higher hopes for it as well. The good news is now you can any weapon you have the design for.

This. I too was kinda annoyed with this reward (and generally how quickly relic swords come about).

Unlocking the master quality smith is the real gem here. Otherwise, you are correct, ♥♥♥♥ sword (auto generated at your level range).

The blade was literally a +1 damage increase for me over what I was using at lvl 19 when I did the quest...looks cool though! Still, I agree with Scampwick: the real reward is getting access to Hattori...

I was also hoping that, considering how Hattori offers you siege weaponry like trebuchets, that you could take him up on that in a siege later on in the game. Alas, you can't

It works fantastic for Cat School high damage builds because of the crit. I used it until getting a better but two-slot blade on Skelliga as part of a main quest. It is called 'Winter Frost' or something like that. When you put points into the damage tree for fast attack crit and damage boosts plus the cat shool perk plus a high crit sword you get 1300-1600 damage pretty regulary - like every third or fifth strike. After unlocking the shield-breaker heavy strike that also boosts crit chance to 50% it is hilarious.

A lot of the quests that have suggested level can be done at very low levels!

I was level 8 and did a level 24 quest, but the battles are like 20 - 30 minutes lol

I did it at level 12 and used Axii to make everyone kill each other, made it super easy. But the weapon I got was level 9, so I'm thinking the sword is levelled just behind Geralt when you turn in the quest or something? I tried searching for info on that but alas I found not one scrap of info. I searched for minutes and minutes, like a whole 6 of them. :P

Yeah I just did this one at lvl 13 and got a lvl 11 version of the sword (109 - 133) +50% crit dmg
Leveled quest rewards are the worst. Basically you get punished for managing to do the quest early. Would have been better to give me a high level sword I can't use yet. =/
I already have a lvl 8 relic sword that does slightly less damage but has 17% chance to stun (which made the quest easy as you can just wail on them even tho they are much higher lvl)

How about having an option "upgrade" your witcher blades? It makes no sense that you spend all this time hunting down 4 different tiers of a weapon, and find through quest reward or random drop something that is far better then what you can craft!

The level range for using the crafted "Witcher" weapons need to be brought down, a lot, or allow your smith to simply take your current weapon and for a fee, upgrade it to your current level.

Same thing with armor, and especially for the very nice upgraded warrior armor you start out with, it's one of (if not the best) looking chest pieces in the game that I would love to keep long term.

Upgrading your gear should have been a mainstay in this game, so hoping this may be possible once they release the redkit for modders.

Ha, I did the same thing, except I was level 9 or so. I didnt even use the sword, as my Griffin sword was better.

I just found it hilarious because Hattori gives you this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ sword for his quest that has a like lvl 18 requirement to wield, while the armormaster at least gives you a lvl 27 piece of gear.

lol the part that pissed me off about the master armorer quest is that the griffin is 2 levels above the quest recommendation. so i could do the quest but when i had to fight the griffin i get shrekt.

I'm waiting for an rpg to implement a system like the one I invented in my brain. Basically your gear levels up with you, or you pick what you want to level on it or whatever and your drops are just gonna be cosmetic. Or drops can include special abilities and stuff. But I'm waaaay tired of the ole running through 500 different swords in the course of one game and my favorite looking one being super low level useless junk.
glowpiPe May 30, 2015 @ 5:23pm
Drop levels in this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up beyond recognition.
You fight a lvl 20 monster that guards a treasure. The reward is a lvl 10 sword that is 100 times worse than your lvl 20 sword

If you kill that monster on the level you are supposed to. around 18-22. You should get a reward you can use. Not something you could have used ages back
