What's the deal with that no XP glitch?
Heard there was a patch coming on Monday... does that mean it isn't worth playing till then?

Really depends, if you want to get most levels you can so you can wear fancy high level gear without grinding or consoling your xp higher, wait until monday, if your fine with either being possibly underleveled, thus making the game harder, or just consoling in any xp you miss out on, or however much you feel like having, then you are probably totally fine to just play on. Im also still not totally clear about how widespread or what impact the bug is actually having, im hearing everything from people saying its just some quests, only main story, all quests, cant get xp at all, all sorts of things, meanwhile far as I can tell, ive gotten xp just fine, just made level 7 and im just several quests past white orchard, so Im not exactly certain about any of that.

Do yourself (and others!) a favor and ignore the masses and read this Offical Post Directly youself here" http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/42937-Addressing-the-no-XP-Glitch

The patch will come monday (polish monday, which should be sometime sunday evening for the states).

Regarding whether to play now, or wait, "...First of all, it doesn't impact the game balance in any significant way. Also, you will be able to finish the game with your character achieving a level within the threshold we had in mind when we designed the game." Originally the glitch only effected you turning in quests 6 or more levels lower than your current level. Unsure of its status now.

Go forth armed with knowledge and play... or wait!

The 'gamebreaking' bug is literally this:

If you take on a quest that's 6!!! levels or more BELOW your current level, you won't get any xp for it. That's it.

'Gamebreaking' they say.
Who the heck does quests when they're completely overleveled for them?
Weizen1988 29 Mei 2015 @ 6:21pm
I still contend that guys post contained basically no information. just an assurance that they dont think it hurts anything, which is fine, but doesnt particularly tell you why or give you any information to form your own opinion on the matter. In any case, I did see that same guy atleast offer that they might find a way to retroactively give people xp they missed, probably easiest way would be some kind of thing that just resets all xp then checks quest completion flags and rewards the appropriate xp for that and # of kills of the various monsters.

I actually keep hearing the bug is -no- quests giving xp. Ive never had either happen, so I dont know, but thats what ive seen, followed by other people mistaking the low level quest thing, which it sounded like may have been a design choice, for that bug.
Achik 29 Mei 2015 @ 6:22pm
its funny how big and wide this bug is mentioned while there are more game breaking bug that prevent you from progressing the game such quest of pyres, get junior, and gang of novigrad.been waiting for this since day 1 but developer seems to just ignore this while this xp bug happened due to latest patch.fix the older one first.i sent email,at forum, steam and twitter.no one from developer seems to acknowledge this bug.before, i can go do higher level quest to compensate for the main quest bug but now got new xp bug prevent me from do anything unless i want to waste my time walking around doing nothing no level up.im so sad with this..

It only happens when you do quests which are 6 levels below your level, or 6 levels above your level.
Again, I don't understand why anyone would do that anyway, but apparently some people do.

well first the game wasnt intended to punish player from playing higher level quest.the lower level quest punishment is intentional and im okay with it.second, why would they make you accept the higher level quest if you just punish them with no xp?and thats not the concept of open world rpg.third,im doing the higher level quest due to game breaking bug that prevent me doing lower level main quest.i cant progress the game so i did all higher level quest and im punish for it due to the game bug.thats really sad and unfair, isnt it?

Why can't you progress the game? The XP bug is only for sidequests, not the main quest. And I don't know what diffculty you're playing on, but Death March or Broken Bones won't even allow you to take on quests that are 6 levels above you since you would instantly die...

Are you sure you're having this bug because it doesn't like it.

I do agree however that accepting quests for way higher levels (23-33) is pretty weird if you're only level 1-10. They should have integrated that better.

You mean the bug where you can't get into Junior's hidden stash? You can just go to Roche to proceed the quest. Sadly, the secret stash part will come up as 'failed', but at least you can still continue. I hope they're fixing this soon.

I see. So in other words, even if I did get XP for said quest, it would be so minimal that it wouldn't make a difference anyway?

No, im afraid that guy is misrepresenting or misunderstanding the glitch, a bunch of people are getting -no- xp for -any- quests, regardless of level, whenever anyone says that someone else chimes in with a misunderstanding about the quest leveling system, which works like mmos where if you are overlevel you get no xp, that being a separate issue which people are complaining about, which unfortunately also has to do with xp rewards, and quests, leading to confusion.
