Oh God Somebody Please Help Me: Save overwritten
I let a friend start the witcher 3 and try his own game for a couple hours. Why the ♥♥♥♥ would they cap the amount of saves to like... 6?!?!? It looks like my 50~ hours of progress on my save are lost? Is there anyway to recover it??? i understand autosaves and quicksaves disappearing, but my manual saves are gone as well.... auto-overwritten with no prompting... If anyone has any advice... system restore... anything... the saves are all from last night now.

Saves are stored on the cloud I think.

Did you try loading your save from the first screen because I checked and all my saves are intact?

...manual saves don't overwrite automatically... I have a save from before I ever left white orchard still in tact.

Im not trying to be snide but... first screen? Is there a second one?! Im at the main menu. How can I restore saves from the cloud? I have 6 witcher 3 saves on my main menu... al from my friends low level game from last night. This is a really poor design feature if it auto-overwrote all my main saves without asking\prompting\warning me.

I got like 20 save files, what are you even talking about? Have you always been overwriting the same save file? I usually save to a new file every now and then, usually after starting a new quest.

My guess is your friend saved over your files without you realizing it. You should challenge him to a game of roshambo until he apologizes.

There a saves limit? How much you can have at the same time?

I've got dozens of saves. The manual saves go to a new slot automatically. There is no limit.

They are not only on the Steam cloud, but also in the Witcher 3/gamesaves directory in your Documents directory.

I copy mine over to another directory every so often as a backup, just like I do with all my games. Just a habit that is probably not even needed with W3.

Yeah i just quick saves all the time, then when I made a new character for Heart of Stone it overwrote all of my quicksaves I had from attacking the castle in Blood and Wine to the end. Four ours of work tossed out the window. D:

Dude did you find a way I got into the same exact situation with my friend and now I have no idea what to do ?

same answer. quicksave just writes over the last quicksave. there is only one quicksave.

if you use the save option in the menu, it creates a new one every time. mine go back to 2015 when I got the game.

if you back up your own saves, check your backup for a quicksave before your friend used your account
