Bug with Devil By the Well quest
Got a strange quest bug. It seems that if you jump in the well before actually making any explorations with Witcher senses the quest might get broken.

I could have found with witcher sens the body of a man and a blood in one of the houses. Though i saw them appearing once before becoming unclickable. After jumping the well i find the braclet and then pick up the body. And then, Geralt just do not wonna burn it, there is no such option, nomatter what i do.

Idiotic situation.

Have you fought and killed her once? You have to beat her once before he thinks about permanetly banishing her.

As a Noonwraith she also only turns up at midday.

That quest broke for me AFTER doing the initial investigation. I couldn't find the bloodied rope or the body hanging in the well. I then jumped into the well and found the bracelet, went back up and once the noonwraith appeared, that's when witcher senses picked up the last bits and I could burn the body.

Not sure what caused it, and it frustrated me for a while, but all worked out in the end.

You dont have to fight her twice. If you come during night and investigate you will be able to banish her after first encounter.

If memory serves it is a "noon wraith" so it should not spawn at night...

started this game 3 times. killed the noonwraith all 3 times at night. you have to do all the detective work in progressive order or the quest breaks.

He probably means to investigate without having her flap around the place. When you are done and go burn the bones, it will bring you to the correct time regardless.

No for me I had to kill her at least once. I did the initial investigation in the morning, finding all the clues around the village, then the quest progression objective was something like 'I can learn no more unless I come back at a certain time' (and you couldnt use the objects in the well). Time skipped to midday, she spawned, I killed her and he then realised he needed to permanetly banish her and to look in the well.

Oh god, such an idiotic algorithm and no multiple ways of solving the problem without making it bugged.

When I first arrived at noon, she was prowling about the well. Garalt said, "Strange, she is not attacking." (Unless you get too close.) I waited till night to investigate. Then burned her body before noon after getting ready. I fought her once, killed her. Garolt said something to confirm it. Then she appeared again! i got to kill her again, and now I have two noonwraith trophies. Although technically only one in the inventory. Wierd. I'm glad she isn't a difficult boss that i barely got away from

Annoying you have to do this in a set order it seems. Dog > Grass > Body in hut > blood trail on floor > Palm print on door > (I got the book here) > Rope with body on the end of it. After this, drop into the well and it's linear the rest of the way. Hope this helps.

Replaying something 5 years later is weird and having this as the first result to the problem on google...
To fix the quest you need to do this:
- Open the Bestiary
- Look at the Noon Noonwraith and the Devil by the Well pages.

The game should pop up the bracelet cinematic

Same thing is happening to me right now. I jumped in the well first before investigating. Now the only thing I have left to do is to kill the wraith so I'm going to wait until night time and see if that clears it. 🤔

You need to go into the house on the east side and investigate. Find the blood, the note that mentions the bracelet, whatever else is there .... and do this first thing, as finding all the outside clues sort of depends on finding the inside clues first. This has been my experience over dozens of times. Might be different for you.

I was stuck because I didn't read the bestiary entry not about the bride but about the generic monster wraith thing, once I read the generic bestiary entry Geralt decided to burn the bracelet and skeleton and she appeared and was gone once and for all, but it bugged and she appeared again so I looted her twice
