I cant change my screen resolution
I'm stuck with a half screen when playing.
I messed around with the resolution when i first got the game and now I have half screen and the resolution slider is gone.

I have changed from windowed to full screen and back again, i have replaced my gfx card, changed my desktop res to try and match the game, and i have tried changing the resolution manually in the user settings but nothing is working....

I read another post about this but that persons res slider miraculously appeared.

any ideas?

Thanks

Try adding the resolution in steam properties of the game

do you mean the set launch options?
if i put the game to fullscreen, it just goes black then closes.

Change it in the user.settings file..in the The Witcher 3 folder in your My Documents folder.

for example mine is:

Resolution="1920x1080"

Changing it in the actual WItcher 3 folder where the game is located will not work.

I actually had this exact same issue, and I have a fix for you. Open the document folder for The Witcher 3. Then ignoring the game save folder delete the other three folders. This will reset the game to default, and you should be able to once again reset your graphical settings. That said I would also suggest that you uninstall the game, and reinstall the game as well. Yes this is a bit more time consuming, but better safe then sorry.

As after I had did the uninstall and reinstall before stumbling upon the solution of just deleting the folders GOG informed my that my older game saves were corrupted, and would not work with the new version of the game. So if you want to try quick and dirty just delete those folders the game will just make new ones when you go back in to play. Obviously you will have to redo all your settings, but at this point you probably couldn't care less. What does that take a minute or two.

If you want to be safe then uninstalling and reinstalling the game, and deleting those folders is probably a good idea. If something is seriously broken in your game. Why try to play with a time bomb. Like I said in another thread when this game goes south it does so in a big way it starts to drag things down around it. Crippling system performance, interfering with other games, and basically making a nuisance of itself until you uninstall it. Even when it is turned off, and has been off for a long time.
