Removing upgrades from Swords / Armor
Its really stupid that it destroys the upgrade ( glyph / runestone ). So for example im using some kind of armor / sword I put there some nice really good upgrades and then lets say I find in 10minutes a better sword / armor but I JUST CANT take the upgrades from the old ( worse ) items to my new items.... Thats really stupid and doesnt makes sense...
isnt there mod for it or smthing?
Thx

Just remove the glyph / runestone at the appropriate NPC.

If you dismantle the weapon/armor at a blacksmith you get components+the runes/glyph

if you 'Dismantle' the item, you get your rune stones back.

You can destroy the item but keep the glyph (dismantle), or you can destroy the glyph but keep an item (remove upgrade).

So your question is 'can you replace a runestone for a runestone already in gear' by right clicking the [new/better] runestone in inventory?

This is what I was trying to answer.

Then...

A blacksmith can remove the item from the socket, yes.

2 minutes later...

I wanted to take the upgrades from the old weapon and put it into new items. I thought I have to do it via "remove upgrades" didnt think about just dismantling the item and getting all back.

Also if you are upgrading witcher gear anything socketed will still be in the upgraded one.
