If you cheat them long, the game gets unbalanced heavily.
For instance, I like to see a system implemented where you get say 10 potion charges per meditation, but to refresh them while meditating it would require all ingrediants for that potion + the alcohol, maybe even 2 bottles of alcohol. Little things like that. Otherwise the game is as amazing as I expected it would be and never had any doubts of its quality even a week before release when so many people were trying to build hype about it being ♥♥♥♥.
Would also like to see more customization in the Hotkey menu, where you remove signs you won't be using in any particlar battle and replace those slots with other potions/items, so you don't have to go into inventory to use other potions that are not slotted in the 2 hotkeys you have for potions, or even put potions in pockets or other slots in the quick menu, and maybe even put other items into the potion slots(UP & Down hotkeys) such as crossbow or torch.
Anyways I just found Superior Swallow with 5 charges and stronger regen, so I am happy. Certainly can wait for Mod kit release. Just curious why the current mods wont work for me but works for everyone else. Nobody seems to have any help regarding the matter.
That's beside the point because this mod does nothing of the sort. It just increases the number of potions and its duration when you're supposed to get those by upgrading and investing in the alchemy skills. So technically it is cheating, but since it's a single player game, who am I to say what you should and shouldn't do.
Works just fine.
Modding anything that isn't visual is cheating, strictly speaking. So what? It doesn't ruin the game automatically. For example, I changed some of the potions' durations up to 10x their original value. Crazy, right? I ruined my game?! Quite the opposite really. For me the game is more fun and more immersive when I can actually prepare for a monster contract by drinking a potion before the encounter and not chugging pots in combat mid-roll like a madman. That's not how witcher potions are supposed to work per lore, and I couldn't care less about any game balance in the face of such a strong aspect of immersion. And I'm not bored because it's too easy either - for one thing, anything besides badass monsters should be too easy for a character like Geralt, and if ever I felt I wanted to have to dodge and hack at enemies longer than it currently takes, I can always bump up the difficulty.
Witchers don't need potions to fight random enemies like dogs, nekkers or humans, so I use potions for the big baddies only. Or when you expect beforehand some heavy ♥♥♥♥ to go down, like attacking Whoreson's hiedout in Oxenfurt.
tl;dr sometimes intentional imbalance can lead to a more immersive experience.
