How do you equip and use the Crossbow?

For battling the griffen in the prologue quest

Got to your inventor, put the crossbow in the slot.
Go back into the game, hold tab, crossbow will be in your slot, select it. Tab middle mouse to quick fire or hold and release to aim.

You get the crossbow from Vesimir.

Apply in the same manner as you do with signs. If you use KB+M use Tab and select the crossbow. After that push and hold the middle mouse button/wheel to aim, and release it to fire..

Use the search function for starters.

Otherwise, make sure crossbow is equipped in one of the slots in inventory. In game, press tab and point at the crossbow & click. Now you can use crossbow with middle mouse button.

You do need to start the Griffin Encounter first however...

Crossbow doesn't work. No matter what I do it will not equip. It's in the ranged slot. I press tab, select it, and it's not equipped. I can see the graphic on my back, but cannot use it. Can't defeat griffin :( This sucks!!!
