Fake Papers Quest bug?
So I failed to save the merchants brother so he wouldn't give me a discount on the papers to pass the bridge or something. So I tried to trigger the quest again by starting the 'Thou Shall Not Pass' quest (approaching the pontar bridge triggers it), and yeah, I don't think I can progress with it. Anyone else ran into this?

I am looking for a way to save the brother in law in fake papers.
For one, when I get the fake papers quest it says to talk to the brother in law. So I speak to him and he says he wants help with ghouls and such, so I agree. The quest for fake papers however, still says speak to the brother in law, and another quest begins (I forget the name) to help the guy with the ghouls.
However.... this guy is a complete wuss, and dies if a ghoul sneezes in his vicinity. I find it impossible to keep him alive at all. I have tried all kinds of things, but always ghouls get past me, and he seems to be the first guy to die, from less than 1 hit sometimes (literally, I saw him drop dead when a ghoul walked slowly past him without attacking once).
Any special way you are supposed to save this guy? Am I missing something?

The brother-in-law's quest is called Bitter Harvest. Use Igni on the ghouls, then fight anything that near him. Keep yourself between the monsters and the guy.

I tried being close to him. I could keep him alive for a bit, but once the rotters start coming, I find it impossible, since they end up getting hit by him, and then explode, killing him. He is too stupid to move when they are going to blow, and one hit kills him.
In fact, one hit from anything kills him, and as I said, sometimes he dies when a monster just walks by him without attacking him at all.
I tried being close to him, being far away up the hill to try and stop the monsters before they go down to him, but no matter what he always ends up with a monster close and he dies immediately.
Maybe it's because I am on death march or something? Perhaps he is tougher on easier difficulties. I played on the next difficulty down in my last playthrough and he died, but I didn't really know or care if it made a difference, as that was my first playthrough I wanted to just go through and live with all the consequences of my actions, no matter how dire things turned out. They turned out very dire at the end, only one person got a semi-happy ending, everything else was misery, slaughter and heartache all around.

Yeah, just finished up my 13th try saving the f**ker. No, it's not that easy. Stay near him, stay far, throw Igni,--- no matter what the dude AND all the peasants die.

Watched a video of someone else playing it... the Ghouls in his game would exclusively attack Geralt but in my game one fights me and the rest haul ass to kill the guy as fast as they can.

I've decided to let the prick die, go kill his brother and throw bombs at the gate guards. Wish me luck on this broken s**t.

But guys, I completed the bitter harvest quest. Spoke to the brother I protected. When going back to ask for the papers, apparently the brother was dead. There's a bug here.

If the quest giver died, you get your reward, from one of his companions that are left alive. Are you sure you finished it from the dude with the brown jacket?
I don't remember. It was a while ago. But GOTY 2015 ;)
