Fake Papers Quest bug?
So I failed to save the merchants brother so he wouldn't give me a discount on the papers to pass the bridge or something. So I tried to trigger the quest again by starting the 'Thou Shall Not Pass' quest (approaching the pontar bridge triggers it), and yeah, I don't think I can progress with it. Anyone else ran into this?

Do the contract: Woodland Beast.
Need to tell the commander the truth. When you see the quest, you'll understand, don't want to spoil you.

Just completed it. Yeah, got what you didn't want to spoil. Still wasn't able to complete fake papers and the mission connected to that one. Still says quest failed. Don't think I can do anything 'bout it. Bug? All well.

Try speaking with the same guy that gave you the quest in first place. Just a few meters from the bridge control.

I'm wondering what would happens if you lie to that commander. I mean from what he says afterwards sound like a lot of bad things will happen if you tell him the truths

once a quest is failed then said quest is failed. There is no way to "redo" it other than loading a save

That quest isn't terribly necessary anyway. I regretted paying for the fake papers right before I finished the commander's quest.

No bug, you can fail quests in this game and that's that. If it is not a main story line quest it is failable, in fact if you talk to a quest giver and tell them to bugger off you will never be able to get that quest again later, so don't talk to ! people unless you want to pick up their quest then and there.

It's not a bug, its just that things can be failed and the only way to redo a quest is to load into an older save, if you find out that you don't like the conciquences for saving some orphans in a swamp 5 hours later when you find out it effects another quest that it didn't warn you about, that's that, you made a choose and you have to live with it (or load an older save).

That's why there's good replay value in this game. SO many different decisions you can make that can alter the outcome of any given quest, be it side or main story.

I did both just for the XP, though I wonder what would have happened if I didn't do the commanders quest before going back to the gate keeper, the forged papers if you open them up and read them are obviously forged, so it's possible a different event takes place if you do the forgery but not the contract much like how other certain quests effect other certain quests.

Yea, i bought the fake papers thinking that it's necessary to get to Novigrad, then only to realize there's another option and you get it for free..

But guys, I completed the bitter harvest quest. Spoke to the brother I protected. When going back to ask for the papers, apparently the brother was dead. There's a bug here.
I am looking for a way to save the brother in law in fake papers.
For one, when I get the fake papers quest it says to talk to the brother in law. So I speak to him and he says he wants help with ghouls and such, so I agree. The quest for fake papers however, still says speak to the brother in law, and another quest begins (I forget the name) to help the guy with the ghouls.
However.... this guy is a complete wuss, and dies if a ghoul sneezes in his vicinity. I find it impossible to keep him alive at all. I have tried all kinds of things, but always ghouls get past me, and he seems to be the first guy to die, from less than 1 hit sometimes (literally, I saw him drop dead when a ghoul walked slowly past him without attacking once).
Any special way you are supposed to save this guy? Am I missing something?

I rode through the battle field and met him before I even got the quest.. He told me to bugger off.. So I did. He didn't live long after I turned my back to him.
Quest pre-failed.
