Witchers are created to have no emotions...yet Geralt is a heartsick romantic...?
Joking about his promiscuity aside, Geralt basically spends the game pinning about Yennifer, and obviously still has feelings for Triss, yet...I thought Witchers were designed to have little or no emotion?

Were his mutations not entirely effective?

I don't think the Witchers are supposedly to be created without emotions... It's more likely a misunderstanding from being viewed as Freak and treated as one and the general rule of Neutrality over things.
Women...do you know any?

I think witchers just have greater control over there emotions. Could be wrong but it seems that way.

I guess it wouldn't be very fun to play. Imagine a tranquil witcher .. Yikes!

I feel that Geralt's mutatations were not completely effective and it's a better game for it.

He controls his emotions, it doesnt mean he has no emotions. If he want to have feelings for any woman, he will have it. If he decide to not feel anything for any woman, he can do it as well. He is aside of Yen and Triss just because he want.

I think their trials and training help them to control their emotions better than most, but any talk about them being completely emotionless is probably just ignorant peasant talk.

In the books, a number of Witchers state they believe that Witchers have no capacity, or least very little capacity, for emotions.

In the game, there is a scene during one of the side quests where Geralt is called heartless, and Geralt says "I guess the mutations worked then."

actually one of their trials is designed to strips them of emotion but sometimes, as with geralt, some emotions linger. letho from witcher 2 is a good example of the trial succeeding.

Sure, but in the book the Witchers all display compassion, playfulness and embarassment towards Ciri.

They aren't emotionless machines. In fact, I think the first game also made that explicit, when Salamandra and co decided to modify the mutations.

I don't think I've seen a single Witcher in any of the games (I haven't read the books) who came across as emotionless. From what I've gathered throughout the series, most, if not all, of the negativity towards Witchers was brought about in a smear campaign (Monstrum, or a Portrayal of Witchers) that took place even before the first Witcher game, which resulted in the destruction of Kaer Morhen and most of the other Witcher schools. A lot of that prejudice still lingers, along with the rumors. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The Professor in Witcher 1 mentions this. Witchers are, in theory, emotionless, and do nothing but hunt monsters, thats it, nothing more, nothing else. However, in practice, they can't even do that, which the professor taunts Geralt about. Simply put, they're meant to be emotionless, but it rarely works out that way.

If you have read the books, you get to the point where you realize that especially Geralt was using this to keep distance to people. Rumors claim that Witchers are emotionless, but this comes from the same direction that claims that Witchers steal little children.

All Witchers in the games or the books do show emotions. But especially Geralt is using this rumor as a excuse to keep his distance, or to explain some errors he made. This is much more present in the books as in the video games. In the books, there were times where Yen would try to reach out to Geralt and he simply did not respond. In the end he was trying to pull the " I am a Witcher and I don't have real emotions" card. Considering how smart Yen is and how much she actually knows about witchers, she knew that was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
