I can't gallop while on Roach

After some time playing, I just can't gallop anymore (like if I where on Novigrad) and because of that it's impossible for me to win races, any idea how to fix it ? Or have you at least run into this problem ?

I double tap shift on my PC, then hold down shift to run once in run mode.

I play on Xbox One. There are lots of little glitches in this game that happen if you play for a substantial amount of time without loading a save. This is one of those glitches. The ability to gallop disappears. I've also had my silver sword turn into a giant silver rectangle. Another time Geralt turned invisible in the inventory panel. Just save and load and these glitches go away.

Go to control mapping and switch the sprint to any other button, i changed it for Mouse 4, jumped on Roach and i had the gallop option so i swapped sprint back to Shift and it works :D

On PC I managed to fix it by drawing my sword. Then I could immediately sprint in the race again.

Axii does work for me, The glitch seems to occour when you fast travel from a zone in which you cannot gallop because of city limits when roach is spawned to any other area where normally you could. Weird but I guess I can see how that could be, likely that the areas you cannot run with Roach have thresholds which stick around with fast travels.

I managed to fix it by changing the key binding then changing it back.

Casting axii on it while on the horse worked for me :) (Yes I had this bug in 2017 :/)

Issue occurred for me during Derby races after Novigrad riding as well. Mounting Roach, going into a gallop outside of town seemed to fix it for me.

I believe I've discovered what might cause this (or at least one of the causes). For me the bug occured when I rode into Oxenfurd on Roach, but then left it via fast travel. Roach was nearby when I was leaving, so I assume the restriction stuck because tecnically I didn't get him out of the city.

Yes, happens like that. Restrictions stucks if you try to gallop in a forbidden area and leave the forbidden area while still holding gallop button.

unequip and re-equip roach's saddlebags and saddle and it should fix the bug
