Good weapon to get after viper gear?
I have the sword from the wild hunt and the silver viper sword from early on, but they're not performing as well as they used to. Im level 8 and it seems they arent quite up to par with where I am in the game. Anyone know where I can find a solid upgrade? Also my armor is a bit old, any places to find recipes or sets would be appreciated as well.

I had similar problems. I tip I can give you is going to vendors and blacksmiths and look in their inventory for "treasure cards" the are like the ones from the viper weapons and on your level there should be the griffin set next.

I'll keep my eye out for that, thanks. I kinda figured I'd have to find a treasure hunt esq mission like you did for the viper set.

If you like Light armor, go do the Treasure hunt quest for Cat gear. Im lvl 15 and I can go to skellige in peace.

These treasure hunts are not only good for weapons, but also for really awesome armor! :)
And you should never ditch them, even when there is better gear, because they are upgradable if you have the old ones.

Cat Gear is nice, you look like a assasine, but the ursine armor is just mind blowingly beautiful! I like it how the mantle falls.

Haven't seen it :p
but I dislike Heavy armor. You'll drown in sea :P
Not sure how random the loot is, but doing a hidden treasure/treasure hunt quest (hint its one of the islands in Velen). I ended up getting a lvl 5 relic silver sword that does more damage than lvl 15 swords do, and it has 3 sockets.expensive as hell to repair though.

True xD
I cannot really imagine how he is swimming with this armor.
On the other side. It is called heavy but it is no plate armor. Just really durable and with many chainmail parts. :)
