Negotiating A Fee
What is the point in this feature? I've yet to negotiate with anyone and get more than a couple of coins bonus for the job.

For example, if the fees are:

Job fee: 200
Negotiation limits: 200 to 400

If I go above 205 I get told to bog off every time. Seems like a waste of effort to even try! Am I missing some key feature that allows you to haggle further than 2%?

Thanks

I wonder if having upgraded Axii equipped helps?

+1 to upgraded Axii. I have Axii maxed, and I can say for sure I got an extra 50 orens from a contract, and could've probably gone higher.

Makes sense. Thanks for the suggestion :)

Not sure might be that some are more desperate to get job done or have more money to spare and you can push them harder. Will need to test if all quest givers act the same.

It's part of the lore. Witchers don't work for free. Some quests allow you to forfeit your reward if you feel they need it more, but it boils down to principles.

It took a second time for me to realize that, and remembering that in the books, the fee was as important as the details about the contract.

It depends on the person. Some will only give a few more. I've got an extra 50 or more from some people.

I think you misunderstand the topic. I'm aware Witchers charge a fee, I was just wondering why the option to try and haggle further was included when haggling resulted in a minute raise that wasn't worth the bother :)

The reward for the Shrieker was 200 I think, I asked for 265 and got it.
They asked me to get rid of a treebeast, reward was 200 and at 201 he stopped the negotiation xD

This is exactly what keeps happening to me lol, it's pretty terrible..
Yeah I have this too on the guy who asks you to kill the Shrieker. I do have Axii maxed out but I don't think that makes any difference. Geralt may be a fine monster slayer but he is a terrible haggler.

Start your first offer maxed out they then see lower offers in a better light ...haggellings a skill ;)

my usual haggle tactic are always this, start at 60% raise, then decrease the price by 10~20%. I usually get the deal when it reach 20~40%.

eg. Job 300credit ; Haggle range 0-100.
I will start open raise on 60. Then if rejected, drop to 40, and then 20. If still rejected to the last, I will drop to 10 which usually will be accepted.

A guy in Skellige wanted me to go hunt a dragon (level 28 Contract). Reward was about 265. 300 was too much, so I lowered to 275. Apparently still too much to hunt down a legendary beast, so I had to go for base reward. This is with Delusion maxed out.

I can confirm with maxed Axii that it doesn't affect at all, in fact it wouldn't make sense since you have to use Axii in order to control a character. Rates are fixed for each character, so this feature is pretty much a wasted opportunity. I hope with patches or EE, CDP do something worth my time or just get rid of it.
