Can't manually save my game.

Alright seen a couple of threads on here about this and most say "Run the game in administrator to fix it." Thats not working for me. Sometimes I'll boot up the game and it'll be fine and let me save, then eventually the function bugs out at some point while playing and won't allow me to save anymore. Thats if I'm lucky enough for it to let me save when I boot up the game.

Stuff I've tried so far:

Running the game in admin
Running Steam in admin
Loading a previous save
Starting a new game
Verifying game cache
Re-installing
Restarting the PC
Fast traveling to various locations around the map
Slaughtering every enemy in sight

Also I'm not in combat, I can still meditate and fast travel. If I jump and hit F5 it tells me I can't save right now. If i hit F5 while holding still and not in combat nothing happens, it acts as if the key wasn't even pressed, no pop-up message telling me the games saved, nothing. Trying to manually save through the menus pretty much works the same. I select the slot I want to save in and it goes back to the main menu. I go back to check my saves to see if it worked and the game acts as if nothing happened.

So the steam forums are the only place I've even seen a hint of a save issue on PC. Tried posting on reddit and the CDPR forums. My google-fu failed me for everything else, just see everyone complaining about the Xboxone save bug. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this because I'm running out of them.

This happend to me just now at the The Tower Outta Nowheres, just killed a werewolf and a cow got summoned next, after that i have been unable to save.

Seems to have gone away, I havent had the issue in a while. Maybe it got fixed. Your issue seems a bit different, I never even got the "You cannot save right now" message when I tried to save.

you cant save because you made past some checkpoint. After save (or autosave) you cant save manually for a ten or some seconds, because save writes itself on disk

No its a bug that can happend. Had it too and it wont let you save nor save auto either.

This issue lasted for a couple minutes and then suddenly i could save again, felt really random.

When mine occurred it was for the whole session

Smells like the *.dll cannot read the saving script. Update failure for ya. Using patch 1.03 from beginning to Battle of Kaer Morhen, no breaking bug quest or system fail. Live long GOG.

This happened to me to! Could'nt save the game, even though I had all the permissions right! After trying to save for 20 minutes in various locations, I traveled from the continent to Skellige.. and 10 seconds after arrival, I could manually save the game.

I am having the same issue as referenced here. And it is NOT one of the "You cannot save your game right now" problems. It is the "I can't save at all, manually, quick save or anything" problems. I can't even delete previous saves while in the game.

I have everything the sun with permission to read/write to the Gamesaves folder (which annoyingly enough is still being saved to in the OneDrive folder). I run the game in admin mode (even though I am the only user account on my PC who is also the admin.

I don't have this issue when I play Skyrim (which runs under steam). I have a billion games saved at various stages of the game.

I had it last night where hitting F5 allowed me to save my game but upon trying again this morning (I turn my machine off at night), I was back to being unable to save. At this point (having tried every remedy listed online) I am about ready to ask for a refund. I see no point in playing a game that I will have to leave running 24/7 in the hopes of finishing it before my power goes out.

Anyone have any ideas?

Windows 10, realized my protected memory access security blocked Witcher 3. Didn’t see the notification since windows sometimes silences notifications. Had to restart the program, losing my progress. Perhaps there was a way to rescue it, I don’t know; I only lost ~5 minutes lucky enough.

You could've tried my suggestion to see if it'd resolve the issue for you without you having to lose progress. I sourced the idea from The WItcher 3 forum I think, and I know it's already helped at least one person who followed my steps.

From a logical point of view it makes no sense for it to fix the issue, but it can.

The game was working fine, but then I noticed I wasn't able to manually save my game and the game didn't seem to autosave at checkpoints anymore when I first went to Skellige. Once i had a chance, I fast traveled to a completely different zone (from skellige to novigrad for example) and the saves started working again.
