Cabaret - and some other races - are unwinable because it doesn't let you sprint

How the ♥♥♥♥ am I supposed to win race if my competition gets the unfair advantage of being able to sprint ahead of me, while I can only gallop far behind him. What kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is this? Please tell me this is a bug?

Also, certain area's (Far from Novigrad and Oxfurd) and normal area's that allow your horse to sprint (but don't after loading) sometimes don't let your horse sprint. WTF is this ♥♥♥♥?

Yes, 50+ stamina. Can I sprint? NO. sometimes the game won't even let me get off my horse and I need to reload the game...

Double-tap shift then hold. That's the default keybind. If that's not working then you may have a bug or idk, but I haven't had a problem with the races.

let the horse sprint until your stamina is gone on 0 and then when you see him approach block his way, he will crash into the back of your horse and then go slower with you, unable to pass if done smart.

I ususally can't sprint at the start, so just canter for a second or two. Not too hard to catch up.

can it bra. It fixed the instant I quit and restarted game. and i back up my saves folder to a folder of date stamped save folders on google drive as i do with all games. don't need you telling me how to live my life.

Ive NEVER lost a single race... They were all super easy...

When I sprint the competion sprints, when I gallop they gallop... not even challanging :/

yes racing in this game is stupid. not a fan of gwent either. but i won all races and completed my gwent deck and beat every gwent player.

take the bad with the good or your overall gaming experience in life will actually be quite a bit duller.

Yes.. don't kno why but this happens sometimes.. just do the race again when Roach remembers how to sprint again

Earlier today in the swamps my controller stopped responding for a few buttons. I just saved my game, quit, reloaded, and everything worked just fine.

I think CD did a good job of storing as little potentially halting data in saves as possible. Let all the bugginess be in the game state that can be refreshed anytime.

I fell into a small hole in a swamp I couldn't get out of and reloading didn't fix it. I had to hack the game (literally with code injection) by hand and translate my x, y, z to get out.

A bit late, I know, but this thread is pretty high in the Google results for this issue, and I wanted to share in case some wayward soul comes across this post down the line.

The bug seems to originate when you fast travel from within Novigrad, then start the race without riding Roach again. It seems as though Roach essentially gets stuck in "city mode" where he can't gallop. To fix it, load an earlier save, then make sure you get on and off Roach between fast travelling to the Vegelbud estate and starting the race.
