Even Odds achievement?

I killed two monsters in contracts without the use of potions, signs, oils, mutagens, etc. Just a silver sword. I still didn't get the achievement. Help?

Bombs are also not allowed.
Strange,I got it after killing the GraveHag and Doppler.Make sure that you don't have any oils/potions/signs already in use.Since Oils last a certain number of hits.

do i have to unequip perks? or just unequip mutagens is enough

No bombs either. I don't have bombs and potions equipped just to be sure. Still no achievement.

mutagens is enough, you can keep the perks

Most likely OP forgot to remove the mutagens

Yeh think i got it before i found out you get even equip mutagens. I take that back.. I don't have the achievement either... I'll work on it tho. :)

It's really weird, according to the text mutagens aren't allowed, but I got it with 2 equipped.

Maybe using the crossbow interferes?


Another thing to check: Where both monsters contract ones? In some other quests there's trophy monsters too but they dont count.

Even got the crossbow unequipped, even the bolts. The monster contracts I finished were the wild hunt hound in the bee farm and the wraith at the Skellige lighthouse.

I tried the prologue monster and noticed a problem with this achievement, too. While I had a temporary sign buff active, I didn't use signs. No mutagen equipped. Followed the achievement description. Then I realized that I wouldn't be able to kill it on difficulty level 2 without using food, so I assumed that food might count as potions (which should be reflected in the achievement text), so I set the difficulty to level 1 and it was easy to kill it with nothing but sword hits. Yet, no achievement registered, although I tried several times.
I also noticed the game doesn't notify about achievement progress stages, but I guess that's intended.

u had sign buff active? I dont think thats allowed. Crossbow bolts food are allowed.

The mutagens they are talking about are the decoctions I think as I got it while having mutagens equipped in my skills menu.

What makes you think that's not allowed? They don't do anything if you don't use signs.
Also, then why do you think food is allowed? That's a temporary buff, too, which actually helps a lot.
And then there is temporary armor and weapon improvements at the armorer table and grindstone. No mention about those being forbidden either.

because i clear my achievement using food. And i read somewhere where they say make sure you have no existing buff. Do not know if sign buffs are included but since you fought without food and with sign buff & didnt get the achievement, I'm just advising you not to have sign buff.

You just have to follow what they say, why do you have to bother about whether or not you can have sign, armor, weapon buff. Just fight the damn contract.

Loads of my achievements have not dropped, I did not get one for finishing the game on deathmarch and despite having done all the contracts and having the achievement for doing all the contracts there are individual contract achievements that have not popped
