Stuck on "Family Matters" Quest
Title says it all. If I choose to kill the botchler, I die. If I decide to keep it alive, the second wave of the floating ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kills me. PLEASE HELP! I don't want to turn down the difficulty as I want the achievements for the difficulty I play on. Thank you for your time.

I feel your pain especially with the wraiths.
Best you can do is use Spectre oil, always keep Quen up,drink potions or eat/drink food often.
Also if a Wraith teleports near you, don't dodge, instead roll and sprint back to it and start whacking.

Lubberkin option is easier. Make sure to research how to deal with wraiths (check your bestiary). Cast Axii on the lubberkin after each fight.

Use Yerdn or w/e its called on Wraiths, dodge a lot and roll a lot.

playing on hardest difficulty, died twice in this part, really annoying, just make sure u dodge when one of the spectres becomes invisible, and dont trap yourself in a corner, use quen frequently, if u have axii sign lvled up, just keep controlling the spectres till they kill each other for you..and dont forget to dodge when they become invisible.
This was a mother F'er of a quest. I also had a heap of trouble with it but found it easier using the Quen sign and oiling my sword with spectre oil and buffing my weapons/armor at a smithy. Make sure you have plenty of buff potions to help you. If you can, get an upgrade or buff for the quen sign in the form of XP points or sword runes. I had an easier time keeping the fetus alive than I did trying to kill it.

Movement is key, their teleport maneuver is followed by a small quick attack and a wide sweeping hard attack, slow but unblockable. Make use of your roll over your dodge and try not to get surrounded, rolling around the edges and focusing a monster down at a time. As you pick them off, try they will become easier. There are two fights, the first is easier than the second due to terrain as well as the amount of health you will have. Take your time, try not to go blow for blow with the monsters. It might take you ten minutes to beat them, but it'll take even longer if you try and rush it.

Quick point, if your ever given the chance to start a mission, DON'T START IT RIGHT AWAY, stop, meditate, go buff your armor, buff your sword, make sure your gear is in good condition. There is nothing worse than your silver sword degrading and doing less damage.

Hope I helped.

Yes, you are the only one having no trouble whatsoever on the Death March and not taking advantage of the alchemy system.

What is your secret?

Im using a sign build with a little bit of melee combat talents and using sword damaging gear, all i have to do is dodge and attack, use the bubble quen to recover health, axii lvled up when surrounded, etc... i can change my sign usage pattern just to have more fun, all i have to do is use bubble quen when im in trouble..

Does Stunning with Signs + charged attack = insta-kill on hard difficulties too ?

no, i actually make them attack each other with the axii sign lvled up, i just stay far away from them if i dont wanna get hit and let them kill each other without even swinging my sword..

I'm having too much difficulty on this mission, everytime I try to roll, the wraiths just hit me anyway, and even if I'm using Quen, it doesn't make any difference, they hit me, Quen goes away, then they hit me. I can't seem to avoid geting hit, not matter what I do! It's so frustrating!

I had exactly the same problem. My solution? Load some previous game save, level up a bit on other quests and come back at lvl 6-7.

Exactly what I did over a month ago. Thanks though.

Load a previous save and level up then return.
