contract to kill a shrieker quest bugged

all goes well untill i kill it and collect the loot then i get stuck in a never ending loading screen

Can you try reloading on an earlier auto-save?

maybe i made a save part way into the quest and reloaded it a few times that didnt help. i have not gone further back in the few saves i have to test one of those yet i will in a bit but this kinda ruined my game mood for a little bit

There are auto-saves so you can try those. Haven't encountered that bug yet but I'll probably feel a little bit dissapointed if I came across it. Hopefully, that works!

UPDATE: fixed the problem, waited for the poison to wear off completley ,changed axe to my steel sword, collected the loot and didnt have to watch how Geralt cuts the head of the Shrieker as a trophy, weird but it worked.

yes thankyou to all that replied for me i had to sheath my sword in the end to move on from this dirty bird quest
