Why can't I block/parry while out of combat?

I'm tired of being pelted with arrows while not being able to parry them simply because I'm not registered as being in combat. If I were playing on easy or normal it wouldn't be a problem, but on Death March, those arrows are more like mininukes.

This is actually becoming an issue. Can't deflect and just standing there with sword drawn

This happened to me earlier when I was facing a siren. I was swinging at her and in mid swing it took me out of combat and put my weapon away O.o. The funny thing was it reiniated combat just as she swooped at me and Geralt didn't draw his sword, but punched her right out of the sky. Was one of the funniest things I've seen happen in this game lately.

I RP it as being hit unawares. If I know an archer or crossbowman is shooting at me, I draw my sword so I can dodge and roll or if I really need to evade right away, punch the air once and immediately roll after.

for me I draw a sword , swing, and when i dodge jump , Geralt just does a normal jump and returns the weapon to its sheath

With some of the things the devs need to fix... this shouldn't be a priority... just keep moving, if you die oh well you died. Hope you saved in the last 5-10 min.

Just another sad game masscommercialized and hyped. Like we dont know that they were well aware of the "you cant do that right now" bug that shows up in ALL KINDS OF DIFFERENT SITUATIONS; d bomb, parrying (my firend currently has his game saved without being able to parry AT ALL..........), parrying "in combat" while getting rained down with arrows, cant meditate... WHAT A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ JOKE. You mean to say they never encountered these bugs while testing? Dont make me laugh... Yet they chose to release it like that and even smile and lie to our faces AS USUAL! Just another pathetic game Im glad I never payed for... Also a sincere and warm thx to all you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wannabe gamers out there that are mostly responsible for the current state of game releases, THX! At least some ppl like Caz gets it...
