before a figh hit f5 and use quen, then start the fight using mostly light attacks and dodging, use axi when it recharged and after the fight save by f5 again and then meditate so you hp is full again. And just keep repeating this.
and ofc get some new swords and armor. the viper set or the dlc set really helped me.
Also you might be in an area that's too high a level for you, I suggest for people to clear out the White Orchard zone after you get fast traveled to the Nilfgardian emperor, especially the places of power as they will give you talent points.
Use Quen to shield you, Ignii against mounted opponents to knock them off, yrrden against fast opponents to slow them down, axii against single opponents to stun them.
Are you using your signs in combination with your attacks.Have you got yourself better gear?
Which "dodge" are you using? There's a roll and there's an actual dodge, but both are being lumped together in discussing combat. The roll is superior to the dodge in regards to avoiding damage, but it also puts you way out of melee range, causing you to have to run back up to your target. The dodge takes more skill to use because a swipe can still hit you if you dodge to the side and are still within the swipe's cone, and some attacks charge forward meaning that a backstep (which is basically what the dodge backwards is) isn't far enough and you'll still get hit.
Also, make sure to use your signs. Igni can light your opponent on fire, which effectively stuns them, letting you either get a few hits in or take them out of the fight for a few seconds while you deal with his buddies. Aard is... well so far I've found it lacking for combat. Axii is useful, especially against harder hitting single targets. It will literally stun the target for a few seconds, allowing you time to move around or get a couple good hits in.
I haven't used Quen since the training yard.
Yrden has its place, but it seems to be only useful for phasing certain mobs in that are immune to attacks otherwise.
Don't bother with the crossbow on anything that has its feet on the ground. Maybe it will be useful for something else, but so far I haven't found it to be worth even carrying around.
The only thing I've used bombs for so far is to blow up nests. I should try using them in combat, but I usually find myself too busy dodging, signing, and swinging to think about bombs.
I'm playing on Death March, by the way.
Are you upgrading your abilities? Make sure you're leveling up your fast and hard style, ability to parry arrows, etc.
I've gotten my a$$ handed to me but I'm playing on the hardest difficulty. Mostly because of stupid mistakes I'll make. Wrong potion in wrong slot, etc. However, even when fighting multiple mobs that parry has saved me more than a few times.
what about learing and using the basics
maybe check out some youtube videos
total noobs can kill the griffon on hard ...
so the complains are hard to believe
I got rekt.
Now i'm playing smart, yes, roll, DO THE FRIGGIN BARREL ROLL. Run a bit, or a lot!, its not that shameful. That hard parry! (one does not simply 360 quick scope, or 360 quick parry here.)
AGNI AGNI AGNI AGNI, yes, spam like if you were cheaply hadouken-ing sagat to death in streetfighter. Eat the raw meat as if it were bigmacs! Believe me, its the same thing.
win.
The game will treat you (and the character, for that matter) as a slightly more powerful human being. Meaning that you will be killed if you don't plan ahead and if you're not aware of the tactics the witchers use.
Head on combat will keep you getting killed. So, you should improve tactics. Use sign, roll in, attack, roll out, hit again, dodge, counter, hit, sign again... And so on and on...
and dont bother fight with red dificult mobs, they wont give u more exp. killed 19 lvl guard as 7 lvl, hardly any exp.
Love the dificult in game tho:) some times feels a bit like dark souls.
Apparently you can change the difficulty at any time in game so fill your boots Volkira. :) I'm on 'normal' & it seems fine to me, but I'm kinda concentrating on learning, looting & leveling up etc. Haven't done the Griffin yet, looking forward to it tho.
