Overall sound volume seem low?
All sounds in settings is set at 100%, Windows volume is 100%, but I have to crank up my speaker volume alot higher compared to other games. Anyone else notice this?

It's not a big deal just wondering if others have noticed this as well or maybe there's a config fix for it?

I'm having sound issues but I don't undrestand hte fix. I tried finding the setting you recommended in control-panel (I have windows 7 64; realtek audio and I use headphone) and I see no option to modify the equalizer. The problem is the sound is really poor and really soft at 100%.

Hum. I do see an option called 'equalizer' (it is a little check box) but as far as I can tell clicking the box doesn't help much - well it slightly improves the quality of the sound but not the volume issue.

Ok I found the loudness equalizer option and yes that helps a lot. Now i can play !

Fixed it , for any1 that has the same problem , go to sound settings , click on speakers , click on configure at the bottom , and change to quadraphonic or sterio - for some reason that fixed it.

Weird; I will have to try that though Ithink I saw that solution posted elsewhere and I don't think it helped me. Given all the posts on this issue i was surprise that cdprojek support basically denied the issue. I ended up purchasing a usb external dac which had other usages but also resolved this issue as it can make the sound quite loud via straight forward amplification though the witcher 3 sound has an odd quality; something is simply not right about it on the pc.

I started the game a few days ago, and apparently this is still a thing :/ Anyone has an official/working solution, yet ?

Here's what I found so far on the Interweb :

- set in-game volume to 50%, restart : tried it, no dice (without too much surprise ...)
- activate loudness equalization in the speakers option : did not try, as it can mess up with other sounds (music especially) and don't want to spend my time activating and deactivating this option
- set speakers to quadriphonic or stereo : did not really try as I already have a quadriphonic setup (4.1), and same as above, I shouldn't have to switch that option on/off
- also found some "fix" which replaces files in the windows system folder : obviously did not try

So far, nothing really official or definitive, did I miss something ?

EDIT : if this matters, this is on Windows 10, and so far, no such problem on any other game

Well I had this problem on windows 7; really bad support by cdprojek as this is the ONLY game I have ever played with this issue. I've read dozen of 'hacks' to attempt to fix this issue but none of them really worked for me (and from what I've read a bunch of other people). Very shocked they added this problem to the game (witcher 1 and 2 did not have this issue)

kk thanks amud, I'll try and see if there are some options somewhere in the game files, but without much hope : it would probably have been found already :(

My solution was to buy a cheap dac; I needed one anyways and it wasn't too expensive. Just kind of silly and as I said was very disappointed in cdprojek. My guess is that it must be something fudamental to the game because normally they are good a fixging things.

The only thing that worked for me was loudness equalization. The difference in my actual music was very subtle. Then again, I'm also not an audiophile.

Maybe see if a headset helps?

Yeah, maybe a headset would help (it also puts the config in stero if I'm not mistaken) but I don't really like using them.

Tried a few things : disabled cloud synch (just in case), put all sounds levels (in game) at 99% to make them appear in the user.settings file, then in that file, changed the master volume to 200. Good effort, but the game automatically removes that, putting it back effectively at 100% :D

I also tried to push my windows sound volume at 100% (it has always been at 66%), this changed apparently nothing.

I tried switching to stereo, that also did nothing, but I was not gonna use this anyway, just a try.

Finally, I gave a try at loudness equalization, this indeed solves the problem, so apparently, I'll have to live with that.

This is very strange, I don't understand why the game behaves like this.
