Hum. I do see an option called 'equalizer' (it is a little check box) but as far as I can tell clicking the box doesn't help much - well it slightly improves the quality of the sound but not the volume issue.
-
Ok I found the loudness equalizer option and yes that helps a lot. Now i can play !
Here's what I found so far on the Interweb :
- set in-game volume to 50%, restart : tried it, no dice (without too much surprise ...)
- activate loudness equalization in the speakers option : did not try, as it can mess up with other sounds (music especially) and don't want to spend my time activating and deactivating this option
- set speakers to quadriphonic or stereo : did not really try as I already have a quadriphonic setup (4.1), and same as above, I shouldn't have to switch that option on/off
- also found some "fix" which replaces files in the windows system folder : obviously did not try
So far, nothing really official or definitive, did I miss something ?
EDIT : if this matters, this is on Windows 10, and so far, no such problem on any other game
The only thing that worked for me was loudness equalization. The difference in my actual music was very subtle. Then again, I'm also not an audiophile.
Maybe see if a headset helps?
Tried a few things : disabled cloud synch (just in case), put all sounds levels (in game) at 99% to make them appear in the user.settings file, then in that file, changed the master volume to 200. Good effort, but the game automatically removes that, putting it back effectively at 100% :D
I also tried to push my windows sound volume at 100% (it has always been at 66%), this changed apparently nothing.
I tried switching to stereo, that also did nothing, but I was not gonna use this anyway, just a try.
Finally, I gave a try at loudness equalization, this indeed solves the problem, so apparently, I'll have to live with that.
This is very strange, I don't understand why the game behaves like this.
