Why does Geralt have such dumb fighting animations?
It seems like every other attack is some overly complicated spinning move, it makes basic attacks take so much longer to land than if he just swung the sword normally. I don't know how many times I've been hit while he is busy dancing around like a fairy.

People just can't let this thread die can they? but since we're here, I agree with OP. If you're still here after 4 years there's a mod in the nexus that removes most spinning animations.

i do agree that it can look dumb or create a frustrating optical illusion, but i have looked at the man_geralt_sword anim file with wolven kit and the frames and durations are the same for all fast attacks and all strong attacks. you get hit because you didn't time it right.

Acording to books. He is much more faster than normal human and he is trained to fight monsters. So it is reflex, not tactic.

I'll join the necro ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I guess.

Idiotic spin-moves are just as useless against monsters as anything else. Being fast doesn't make it any less stupid.

Not stupid if it works.

the only reason it works is because it's a game. The game could make shoving the pommel up his ass and spinning around work.

You're in for a huge surprise once you learn what medium we're in.

If they programmed his every move to be throwing the sword and then boomerang it back - it would work. Doesnt make it look better and more realistic.

That'd be cool, though, having a ranged attack that doesn't suck.

Ok, so if you are attacked by ghouls in cave from all directions, and you cant see ****. Maybee... maybee...

The sword will get stuck in the 2nd or 3rd one. So spinning would be pointless.

I disagree- it'll get stuck in the first one

I guess I'm not the only one annoyed by this. I don't hope for easy game play, but having less than ideal control over your actions makes it less immersive. I'm not sure if it IS the source but I think holding down directions while striking may be the cause. It's not too easy testing this out in a swarm of enemies but let's see if fast attack only (no holding forward/backward/side buttons) works.
