Or to make it even easier, right click on the game in steam, properties - local files - browse local files

I had a friend who bought the game Family Share it with me; but whenever I try to run the game I get "Failed to start the game (missing executable)".
I tried everything I found on the internet, so I thought I'd just look for the .exe file. Guess what? There is no bin/x64 in my The Witcher 3 folder. What to do? I've reinstalled the game twice, verified integrity more than twice, etc. Why won't the exe install itself in my PC?

when you can't find something, use the search tool

It really isn't there. Unless it's inside one of the other folders inside "The Witcher 3", but I only have the following folders in Steam/steamapps/common/The Witcher 3:

_CommonRedist
ARTBOOK
ARTWORK
content
MANUAL
MAP
SOUNDTRACK
WALLPAPERS

Is the /bin/x64 inside one of these? I don't think so. I thought it could be because I didn't have enough space for the whole thing, but even after the installation my Local Disk still has plenty of space left.

Camelo, I am having this exact same problem, did you figure out what was wrong?
Camelo May 10, 2016 @ 3:30am
Nah, I gave up long ago because my brother bought the game CD in Poland xD
I was never the computer expert anyway, so I wouldn't be much help, but my guess is that if you didn't buy the game, you don't get the game, even if family shared.

bin should be underneath Artwork...at least it is for me.

i reinstalled steam and witcher 3, the folder did show up. but it is still crashing on the startup. i heard that running it in windowed mode should help, not sure how to get the game to start up in wondowed mode though.

Nothing like doing a search on the internet to come across posts that tell you to search for it. Why post worthless advice when posting the answer is easier?

The default install location for Witcher 3 is:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3\bin\x64

If you can't find the executable there, then do a search "witcher3.exe" without the quotes.

Yes, this answers the original question, but that had already already been answered. It seems you didn't understand the past posts. The problem was, there IS NO binx64 folder, and there is NO witcher.exe. No use searching over and over for something that isn't there. No use googling on how to search for it.
Sorry if I'm being mean here, but "worthless advice" is insisting on something that was already refuted because it didn't help before.
