Not really, pre-order incentives don't make the choice any more complex for most gamers. Sure there are few that can't avoid clicking buy on every single preorder deal that pops up but the majority don't buy into it. Witcher 3 to me did not really have any great pre-order bonuses, except for maybe the music which is nice to have and the discount from the previous games. However I'd save more money if I waited for few years like I normally do with games (I bought witcher 2 for 10 dollars, skyrim legendary edition for 10 dollars, witcher 1 for 2 dollars, just cause 2 for 2 dollars and so on).
I'm however ignoring those games that overstep, such as evolve, mortal kombat and a few other good examples of dlc and preorders going nuts. If most consumers did the same it would not be a problem but I don't really care if someone that buys into that garbage ends up with garbage in their hands.
This here is the first game I have ever pre-ordered and probably the only one I will. Main reason is that I felt like paying for this game on release because of how cheap I've bought the previous two games for (total of 12 dollars, 2 and 10) and I wanted to support this particular developer. So far the developer has not done anything I deem bad or broken my trust in anyway (yes even with all the trolling going around in this place, ridiculous claims with no sources and screenshots that prove nothing. Amazing how little effect it has, I wonder why).
I know there can be differences in performance - that's what I meant by "working out the kinks". But the base game remains the same and I trust that their embargo is due to last minute optimisation in preparation for the first day patch.
I am well aware of Ubish1t, but CDPR has given me no reason not to trust them - I'm taking the risk by pre-purchasing, and I am ready for anything.
Those people that are nervous should save their money and cancel their pre-purchase and stop complaining until the game is actually released, because we won't know until then and this speculation is doing nothing right now.
Of course it makes the concept more complex. Both from a cost/risk point of view for the customer and a moral point of view for the publisher.
Ps Version runs so good,..from what we hear...
Why should they not complain? The embargo means that people who are worried will end up paying £10 for the steam copy of game in the UK. I’m not complaining myself but I can see people’s point of view.
So, they will have to pay base price? Big deal, it's their choice to make.
The only way paying on launch or preordering is better is for the fact that you get it right now possibly with some extra features which seems to be impossible to resist for a portion of the video game community.
I didn’t say it was a big deal. I said that people aren’t being unreasonable. I’m not sure why some posters here are so touchy about any criticism of the game or developer.
Bit of a strawman argument there mate.
Yeah, that's what I usually do. I have so many games to play that it's more cost effective to wait than to buy games at release.
The Witcher games and books are some of my favourite though and CDPR will hopefully release an enhanced version for free like they did with TW1 and TW2, so I don't see pre-purchasing as losing out - plus they've been a good dev so far, so I'd happily take the risk and if it ends up being a mess, it's on me.
Because the power is in the hands of the consumer.
Some is and some isn’t.
It always is. Stop acting like they're not in control of their money - I could cancel my pre-purchase right now.
yup, I am the same way. 99% of my games I buy are more than a year old. Shadow of Mordor was my game last year that I really wanted and pre-ordered it, didn't regret that one at all.
Witcher 3 is this years new game for me, everything else will be more than a year old.
