Update DLSS to newer version to improve performance
Here's a way to further improve performance if you own an RTX card.

Download the latest DLSS version from this link https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-dlss-dll/ and overwrite the DLSS version the game uses from this folder: Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3\bin\x64_dx12

You should notice a nice FPS improvement. I went from 40+ FPS to 50+ with a 2080ti and DLSS set to Performance. All settings cranked to the maximum, except Hairworks, Motion Blur, and Camera Lens Effects.

With all RT settings enabled?? Also DLSS makes geralt in the menu look like trash.

Yes, with all RT enabled, and yes, Geralt does look like trash in the menu. But that's honestly an ok tradeoff to me.

To be fair, he looks like absolute booty in the main menu no matter your settings. Some weird blurry, foggy disaster.

Which resolution and settings? I got this tip from a reddit user. He reported this:

"DLSS balanced, some settings bumped down from Ultra+, namely foliage distance, shadows, background characters all bumped down to medium (shadows doesn’t seem to matter much) gets me a pretty stable 60 FPS. At DLSS performance and ultra performance I break 70 but then it looks like ass. 3080, 5900X, 2540x1440."

Does this happen using this fix or is this a problem you have with the game in general?
I posted in another thread on this, but interestingly I gained another 20fps in the same area on relaunching the game. I am not using DLSS 3 frame gen, but with this update 1% lows have improved substantially and stable framerates in excess of 80 seem to be possible, with frame gen I can get over 120fps now.

There must be something going on with how they have DLSS integrated with the engine.

Can confirm, installing dlss 2.5 update does nothing to improve performance. Get the exact fps using fxaa, tauu, no AA, DLSS(all settings) or FSR(all settings)

Definitely because of the hotfix today and not dlss version. This is what we call the placebo effect and how you get misinformation started. I have DLSS Swapper and already swapped in the latest DLSS version with no difference, and sometimes if the devs haven't built certain game properties around a specific dlss version it can break certain aspects and cause some textures to not load properly.

what do u mean newer version? that website has 2.5 while game update states:
Added DLSS 3 support. Available only on compatible hardware.
isnt that newer than the website provides?

Man youre a genius, went from 55-69 fps with everything ultra+ 3440x1440p, to 80-90 fps on my RTX 3070, i7 11170k, 32GB RAM. With rtx on around 33-44 fps,

I am not suffering no placebo effect. I am seeing a noticable improvement in the same area with excesses of 10 FPS, and the same reported the people on the Reddit thread where I found this. I measured the impact of the hotfix before applying the new DLSS, and it improved my FPS of about 2-3 digits, again, in the same area.

They must hire better programmers if you ask me.

DLSS 3 is supported on 4000 series only. Older cards use DLSS 2, which still gets updated and improved. They are different things.
