So, did they just killed performance for high end GPUs?
so i played this update with my rtx 2060s when it came out, and without ray tracing i could manage 60-70 fps with most settings on ultra/high. Now having upgraded to a rx 6950 xt my performance sits around 55 to 60 fps on ultra settings (no RT).

And i know is not the GPU cuz this is literally the only game I own that has this problem, hopefully they patch this soon.

It's CDPR's broken DX12 implementation. Try launching with DX11 and you'll notice nearly double the frames. It's not your hardware.

Your GPU may be better, but so are the graphics.

2060 is nowhere near high end lmao
EDIT: misread this part

But to be more precise, even without RT the game is more demanding now and looks better.

Game has improved graphics even without RT, something people seem to be missing. The shadow improvements alone are massive.

Also it's mostly CPU limited.

Are you sure your CPU is not causing a bottleneck with the new GPU?

problem is, i played the update with the 2060s and got better performace than with a 6950 xt, which call crazy, shouldn't be normal, idk hopefully you are right and the jump from ultra to ultra+ is so brutal it justifies that massive dip.

Wow, I completely misread what you wrote.

Yeah, I have no idea why that is, then.

I don't know how it's compared to the old Witcher 3 but within 60fps I'm not able to max out my 2080ti utilization without activating RT.

Maybe it's bc AMD?

lmaooo you are god send, i don't know why i didn't check on that before, but indeed i went from 55-60 fps to 85-90 with everything but RT max out on DX 11

They didn't kill high-end performance, the code just spits its coffee when DX12 is enabled for whatever reason.

turns out it was DX12 being butchered, i can max it out just fine in DX11

Yes, the Ultra+ incorporates all the high performance changes they made to graphics. The AMD card is new so may need a few more updates as well.

It's just poorly programmed. My 3080 does the exact same thing. Only goes up to 100% with RT

Playing it with an RTX 4090 + Ryzen 5800X. I have everything on max including RT in 4k and it's demanding to say the least. With DLSS2 I have around 60-70 fps and with DLSS3 I get around 90-120fps. Without DLSS or FSR there is no way you will be able to play on Ultra+ in 4k and with last gen cards like the 30-series you wont be able to get 60 fps with everything maxed in 4k. The visuals are a significant improvement though. I tested the pre-patch version a few weeks ago and it looked really rough. The patched version looks stunning with full RT, higher res textures and improved vegetation. Anyone saying otherwise is trolling.

I think I use dx12 though although I'm not sure since I don't know where to find that info when using GOG Launcher.
