Mods don't work at all
I had The Witcher 3 uninstalled for a few months, but with the new update, I decided to get back into it. I usually use a few mods, but this time, after installing them, they didn't show up in the game at all. No mods have any effect whatsoever, and the game just plays like normal. At first I assumed that the new version simply wasn't recognizing them, but even after downgrading to the classic version, mods still didn't work at all. I am at my wits' end, and I really need some help here.

Depends on the mods your using. Mine are working fine, some have next gen updates and some do not

You don't understand. I tried downgrading to the classic version, but mods still don't show up in game at all. It may not even be related to the update, and I vaguely remember having a similar problem years ago.

You using Vortex? Been told that "fixes" for mods need to come from creators, etc. I can't run any mods at all. So if we need to wait for fixes on the mods it could be a bit of wait is my take on this if correct.

just to clarify, not trying to be insubordinate.

you made the Mods folder

X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3\Mods

here right?
Yes

No, I'm not using Vortex for the Witcher 3

The only way I have found to get mods working was to not only add the mod to the mods folder, but also create a dummy entry for it in the dx12filelist.txt & dx11filelist.txt files found @ <GAMEPATH>\The Witcher 3\bin\config\r4game\user_config_matrix\pc

Example, in my mods folder I have the mod modObedientSteed

So in each of those files I created a dummy entry:
modObedientSteed.xml;

Even though there are no XML files (obedient steed only includes a single .ws). That seems to work when just dropping them in the mods folder alone does not work.

Did this actually give you a mods entry in the game? Or did this just make the mods work again? I'm a bit confused, so forgive me.

It actually made them work.
Fortunately, my problem seems to have been resolved for now, by Vortex ironically enough. But I can confirm that Red Eagle's method works in a pinch.

Mine seems to have been resolved as well. Perhaps it was the latest update. Always good to know workarounds though in case it happens again.
