An old audio bug.
In the older version, there was a bug that would occur if you did a side quest/witcher contract which had original music. That music would overwrite the game's openworld music and what not if you immediately quit the game and reloaded the save. Veterans should know what I'm talking about now this happens with the new netflix quest and I tried to evade the bug 3 times, same way I've done before. Just keep playing until you trigger more music and possibly some main story quests. Not working at all, it seems the only way to avoid this now is to just avoid the whole netflix quest.

Try teleport to another region. Like White Orchard or something. Helped me

Yeah did all that, doesn't work. So I can't do the quest on my main save because I don't have other quests to do which would "fix the music"

I was able to do it on a fresh save and kept progressing the story in a single session, didn't bug out then so that's the only solution to it.

Really wished they patched this as well, there's more quests that bug out music like this.

This just happened to me with the new Netflix-Witcher quest ("In The Eternal Fire's Shadow"). After completing it, the ominous ambient quest music persisted throughout the overworld, including battles and Gwent. I tried reloading the save right before the final conversation of the quest and continuing to the next town to see if that would work, and it appeared to. But then I died in a battle in the overworld and reloaded the save right before that battle, and the music from "In The Eternal Fire's Shadow" popped up again and wouldn't go away.

Hopefully gets addressed very soon.

Yes, it works, but it's temporary. The problem reoccurs whenever one reloads the game (at least in my case)

I read somewhere that going into the Novigrad sewers (that plays it's own creepy music) can help fix this problem. I haven't tested it myself since I haven't done the netflix quest yet, but it's worth giving it a shot.

Good to know I'm not the only one. This is an old bug, happened to me before, they just haven't touched this one.

In my case, traveling to another region (ex: Vizima palace, White Orchard) temporarily fixed the problem but it came back whenever reloading the game for any reason. But for some reason, after doing that temporary fix and playing through several quests without reloading the game, the bug seems to be permanently gone. Even when reloading the game. I don't know what exactly caused the bug to go away. But this was before the hotfix that released today (which I don't even see any significant patch notes for anyway).

It doesn't work, you have to start another quest with its own music then it will reset.

Sometimes fast travel does work but I really don't understand this bug properly. A quest somehow replaces it's music scripts with the open world music scripts? Even for 2015, this is really odd. When you load a game it's supposed to load fresh scripts, what you did before should not matter now I don't know if script is the right term but you get the gist.

Yeah I agree completely, I can only speculate that is taking triggers from save games and reapplying them to restart the 'scene' properly.

Going to Ciri's room in Crows Perch or entering the Novigrad sewers usually fixes this. Fast travel and game restart did nothing for me but Ciri's room worked.

I'll try it some other time on my main save. At the moment, everything works fine for me in a seperate playthrough. Got the armor and everything.

Going into Baron's room fixed for me, but it's a temp fix, when I reload it starts again…

On 4.01 update?

Yeah this just happened to me out of the blue. Well not really, I've been expecting it. After a witcher contract in skellige "heart of the woods", a special soundtrack plays and I tried to dodge any glitching so I did a bunch of other quests but nope, the glitch still happened. Now I have two options; either carry on with the main quests and see if it fixes itself or reload the save and do the quests in a different order.

Seriously, this is so annoying, how come not a majority of people haven't noticed?
