Tried to install an old lod mod and it may have helped? But didnt do much. My next task will be trying to install the distance tweak mod which apparently lets you have much more control over the lods.
I dont need 4k textures when im playing at 1080p. Id be happier for lower resolution textures on objects/trees/people and having static 3d models if it would stop the dang popin. Makes for a very distracting experience.
But were talking about a 8? year old game built on the last version of ps3 era type graphics.
Also per someone else's tip.
Using dlss plugin 2.4.13 can help increase the quality of the dlss, that part I can vouch for. Performance mode doesnt look like im looking through coke bottle glasses now.
From my tests shadows from all opaque objects, aside from trees and foliage, could be increased by increasing meshLODDistance in config (but this ends up being a really demanding setting as game now draws too many lod0 objects to produce those shadows. need different fix from the devs).
Also this doesn't do anything for the tree shadows. Those still change right in front of Gerald when walking in the forest. Couldn't find any config entry that coudl've improved trees raytraced shadow distance.
