Saved games gone SOLVED

My saved games were in
\steam\userdata\YourSteamID\292030\ac\WinMyDocuments\The Witcher 3\gamesaves\

I copy pasted them into

Documents/Witcher 3/gamesaves

Anybody reading this solution or just commenting?

First of all, copy that data somewhere in a safe place just in case.

Then if you have a folder with save files:
Steam\userdata\147027030\292030\ac\WinMyDocuments\The Witcher 3\gamesaves\
Copy it as:
c:\Users\<your user name>\Documents\The Witcher 3\gamesaves\

And the next time you launch the game, saves should be available.

yes I copied it into:

C:\Users\user\Documents\The Witcher 3\gamesaves

now all my loads are back, solved case, I wonder why it is lost though. Steam was updated in my case not an electricity loss or windows update. Somehow only new game was available but copying it to my user from steam solved the case. Thanks for your answers.

Should have had steam cloud off. It causes more problems than it fixes.

Hi all,

hope this could help, i just lost my save files today and i don't see it on my steam cloud. However I tried to do the game and select My rewards multiple times and accept it and my save file was there. But the rest of my save file was gone but i only have the latest. Hope this could help and hope all is well.

Are you sure that you currently have cloud enabled for Witcher 3? It may be possible it somehow got disabled for the game so it won't sync them. Check the game properties and see if cloud is enabled.

If it is enabled but still no luck, try to disable it, launch the game, exit, enable cloud saves again and see if it starts to sync.

i manage to find the saved games , but i try to paste C:\Users\user\Documents but there is no witcher 3 folder ..
so i just try paste it there but still there is no load game in my app

Witcher 3 folder is the most basic required folder if you dont have it then clearly game did not install correctly , uninstall , delete everything manually and install game again , turn off anti virus it may block game or something. (you can try verify files for faster but it might not be enough due to mods leftovers that you probably have from old gen)

the witcher 3 folder in documents has game settings , profile settings , steamautocloud.vdf , input settings , game-saves, and other files.

make sure you have all those files before worrying about saves...


also disable one drive since it always breaks game save mechanics.


as for gone saves , there are a lot on nexus you can download ,

but first go to This pc in file explorer and search .sav and see if something pop up.

(.sav is the saves)

Hi. it is happening the same for me. I ve lost my saved data games and i had like 4 slots. I had 120 hours of game and didn't finished yet...with both dlc. If anybody knows how to fix it, please tell us how. Thanks

Doing a search in the 'steam/userdata/' folder for 'Witcher' led to the missing save files.
