Saved games gone SOLVED

My saved games were in
\steam\userdata\YourSteamID\292030\ac\WinMyDocuments\The Witcher 3\gamesaves\

I copy pasted them into

Documents/Witcher 3/gamesaves

Anybody reading this solution or just commenting?

that line says that save file in your documents folder is the same as the one in the cloud so no reason to upload it so steam cloud is skipping the upload

Don't use steam cloud, seriously. If saves are important to you manage them yourself and back up on a separate drive or USB.

Ok but do you have any idea why I cant use my cloud save from Xbox on PC and why I cant make new gog cloud save on PC? It just saves locally and not to gog cross progression cloud.

I believe the instructions above are for users playing steam games on pcs running windows and using steam cloud .

you are using Xbox and GOG trying to store xbox and gog games in the xbox/gog cloud. perhaps someone else can help you as I have no knowledge of either.

Ok so it just worked and idk how I fixed it, I just started the game with DirectX12 not 11 and the saves were there and I can save to the GOG cloud aswell. I can save to cloud with directx11 aswell now...

OP: another thought = search your hard drive for .sav files. maybe they are actually located somewhere else

Go to steam/userdata/youraccount/292030/ac/WinMyDocuments/The Witcher 3/gamesaves. All your saves should be there!

All saves disappeared after electricity went off [SOLVED]

I had tens of save files since 2018 which survived changes of PCs, updates to new versions of the game. When I played today, suddenly electricity went off for a minute, and when I started the game next time, there weren't any saves.

It shows "0 bytes stored" in Steam Cloud for this game.
"Documents\The Witcher 3\gamesaves" folder is empty now.
Is it possible to recover saves?
So many things left unfinished after 124 hours, and I have no strength to start from scratch.

P.S.
I just found that Steam has a cached version of all savegames!
In my case it was in a folder:

c:\Games\Steam\userdata\147027030\292030\ac\WinMyDocuments\The Witcher 3\gamesaves\

So, first of all, if you have this data, copy it somewhere in a safe place just in case.

Then copy it to a path where the game expects to have saves:

c:\Users\<your user name>\Documents\The Witcher 3\gamesaves\

And the next time you launch the game, saves should be available.

If you don't have "c:\Users\<your user name>\Documents\The Witcher 3" folder at all, launch Witcher 3, start new game and save it once. Then exit the game and you should see a destination folder where you can paste your saves.

All my saves just disappeared after I updated windows today.
Edit: I was able to get my most recent save from the games build in cross-progression save. But still I lost like hundreds of saves.

I have the same bug right now, steam got updated and when I log in to witcher it only shows new game and there is no load game option. What is the problem?

Commenting to say I have the same problem. Steam updated and now all my files for Witcher 3 are gone on cloud. Hoping someone posts a fix soon.

WELL, yes actually, the files might be recoverable, trouble is the "free" versions" r useless, you'd either have to get a company do it for you, or splash out on a proper file recovery program, which isint that cheep.

@ Seladir, I have summit like 1k700 H in game, and i just completed the game in 2 different way's, in a week, 124h is nothing.
