Classic vs Next-Gen DX11
Is there any difference in performance between rolling back to Classic, and choosing DX11 in the next-gen launcher at any level? Or is it just the same thing? (I'm aware of the extra content next-gen added that's left out of classic, I'm just curious about performance)

classic performs way better minus an occassional single stutter when you transverse areas.
Dx11 in the NG version performs slightly better than 12 but you loose RT settings and upscaling (Dlss, Fsr, xess)
dx12 has frequently micro stutters. with rt enabled is even more evident. Ironicaly I found the PS5 version much smoother (performance mode)

DX11 in next-gen launcher is not the same as classics. It has some new graphics settings and higher minimal\recommended setup settings. On my old rig it performs much-much worse than pure classics. Me test suggest that next-gen dx11 has become more cranky in the aspect of cpu and ram usage (compared to classics).

This is real helpful guys, I'll try out classic sometime and see how it feels. Every time you switch between Next-Gen and Classic or vice versa, does it make you re-download the whole game?

You can manually copy the classic version to another folder and run it via the exe... both installed... they share the game setting locations last I tried this though. I found the non-ray-traced reflections better in the DX12 version vs DX11 and classic DX11
On my old 1080p rig with a GTX1060 it not only runs better in DX11 but looks better than DX12.
