burning stable.. save horses.. sudden baron fight?

so i came back to baron after finding out about the miscarriage and the stables are on fire. i decided to save the horses and this guy's brother stuck in stable, but i ran into baron and beat him up and now i guess the fire's already out?
what happened? did i miss my little quest?

Yes, you have to go straight to the stables (you have to climb in via a ladder) and after you rescue the horses you get to fight the baron. If you go straight to the baron you miss the chance to save the horses.

so what rewards did i miss?
the baron was highlighted and pretty close to where i was. i wonder how many people miss this stable quest
