Constant Crashing on a modern NVIDIA system, at a loss.
Never played any witcher game. I find single player games difficult to get into, this given how critically acclaimed this game is, I decided to get it on sale yesterday. I constantly crash. Sometimes I crash in the initial loading screen (repeatedly) or I crash after playing for 5 minutes. I crash in menus, out of menus, exploring, in towns. I've crashed at least a dozen times in the few hours of play.

I've have turned raytracing completely off, still crashes.
I have tried different combinations of raytracing, still crashes.
I've tried turning raytracing off, DLSS off, and leaving frame gen on, still crashes.
I've tried turning raytracing off, frame gen off, and leaving DLSS on (quality), still crashes.
I've uninstalled the game and redownloaded on steam, still crashes.

Does anyone else have this problem, I don't know if I can stomach a play through if I'm going to crash everything 1 to 30 minutes at random. Everything is up to date driver wise.

System:

12900k
RTX 4070
32GB DDR5
2TB 990 Pro M.2 SSD
Windows 11

At a loss here, this is a 10 year old game. I don't see much issues like this from other people. All I can do at this point is to just uninstall the game and reinstall it and hope that helps.

Try turning HairWorks off and see if it's still crashes...
Try DX11, some folks have trouble with 12, even if they have a RTX card, mine runs on DX12 perfectly fine, but my card is AMD, maby that's the reason.

Jus on the off chance, see if ya drivers need updating, most times it's not a problem, but some games are finicky

This is the one thing I didn't try, and it looks like it was hairworks constantly crashing me. I turned it off and was able to play for over an hour without a single crash (impossible before). Ty bro.

Yea, many fall into that trap. I was there before as well and many others have crashes because of the hairworks. If you ever see it, just turn it off in every game :D
